if I take courses over the summer at a less prestigious university because of two reasons:

1) I will be at an area away from my school and the summer institution is the best one in the area

2) I will need it if I want to maintain my pace of graduating in time as well (classes for CS + CogSCI majors)

Will this be looked at negatively?

Also: are computer science classes and cognitive science classes considered in sGPA?

By "less prestigious", by the way, I'm speaking in relativity to my school (Penn). I hope I didn't come across as if I was saying 99.9% of schools weren't prestigious 😛

Neither computer sci nor cogsci classes count in your BCPM GPA.

Common wisdom is that some courses over the summer at a different institution are fine but you want to avoid taking so many it looks like you're avoiding them at your home institution.
