I am scheduled to take the MCAT on Friday. However, I am very worried about my verbal score(AAMC avg of 8.8). Because of this, I am very seriously considering pushing it back. Most of my friends are telling me to take it now and get it over with and see what happens. If I do well, then I'm done. If I don't do well, then I take it again. What do you guys think? Is there any reason AGAINST taking it twice? Does it look bad?

Let's say I score well on the PS/BS but poorly on the VR the first time, but pump up my VR, and my BS/PS fall slightly what will medical schools think? Is it a bad idea? Is it better to take it ONCE and do well than to take it twice?

Keep in mind when I say better, I am simply talking about how it is VIEWED by medical schools. I am not talking about how it might feel, the additional time, the stress, or even the money.

All things equal, medical schools prefer to see a good MCAT score that was received on one attempt. The rationale I've heard for this is you're not going to have multiple attempts to ace your boards--you've gotta do it right the first time, so medical schools want to see you getting into that habit.

So yes, try to avoid taking the test multiple times, and I would recommend pushing your test date back until you are scoring at a level you are comfortable with.
