Hey guys, First post here. I am trying to figure out my study strategy for the boards next year and I'm wondering ... hypothetically, if you had unlimited time and FA with you, what do you think you could score?

I'm planning to stick with slowly reviewing FA throughout the year and then adding more specific resources and UW by the time I get to hardcore studying. My main worry is how much time I should be spending knowing every detail of FA like the back of my hand vs. knowing other sources. Thanks guys!

Honestly, I think you shouldn't miss out on other resources besides FA. To think that FA can cover what an additional 10 review books can is kind of silly. It's good to know FA, but I would throw in lots of extra books. Unless, you're content with missing out on a lot of small details that make a big difference. FA biochem is not going to top RR biochem. FA path is not going to top RR path. You get the point.

honestly
I would start early with FA and BRS path and read lightly
Also start early with meds and micro
I wish I could go back in time and not listen to all the people down our throats about "do not study yet for boards" Also, a lot of people will claim they didnt look at the material before boards or whatever, get them out of your head. There is TOO MUCH INFORMATION to study it in 5-6 weeks if you want a BIG score. It is too bad that I have come into contact with more honest people who scored well (and were willing to share their scores and how they started early) after the school year ended

Thanks for all the advice guys and to Noel for reaffirming that I'm not the only one who thinks starting this early is a good idea. Hopefully, with an hour or so of reading a day, I'll have a head start when those 5-6 weeks roll around.

Thanks for your honesty! No one likes to hear about someone studying way in advance for an exam but I have trouble believing that it doesn't help - assuming that it doesn't take away from the rest of school. I'm thinking about getting qbank or usmlerx and using it (w/ FA) as a supplement to class/occasional review throughout this year. Nothing hardcore.

Use RR path, brs phys, robbins review question book and FA with your classes 2nd year. If your rich and want to use a q-bank all year go with kaplan then use world teh month before step I. Listen to goljan as much as possible multiple times. Summer before M2 is a good time to relax or do research. If you really want to do something read brs phys and RR biochem if you havent already read them. Studying FA before M2 would be a waste of time imo as it is a skelton review book.

You should learn the topics well in RR path M2 year then when you go to first aid it should feel like your reading a kindergraden book.
