I don't see the originality in this article - this idea has been ingrained into our collective consciousness forever. There is increasing demand for "cushy" or "lifestyle" specialties, because people want to take time for themselves.

I agree completely with the author. There is a book I read called "Intern" I think that in the end had this sort of viewpoint.

Edit: Not trying to flame/be mean - sorry if I came off that way.
 
Most people would just snap and play it off as too much stress or a bad day. This lady went into analysis about it and how it pertained to her identity somehow being lost because she....got angry? Talk about overkill IMO. Might I add the author probably longs for more drama in her life like a TV medical show. Just look at that loaded question about "losing herself" to be the doctor she wants to be. Sad.
 
If yourself is your "self" then your changing your "self" to become who you want your "self" to be? right...? then your "self" is not lost!!!! you are just fulfilling your own desires!

I hope they dont have questions like this on the mcat 😉
