Taking two chemistry classes at the same time?

My school only requires General Chemistry 1 for Organic Chemistry 1. Would it be unwise to take General Chem 2 + lab and Orgo 1 + lab at the same time?

Gen Chem 2 and orgo 1 were probably the hardest undergrad classes I had man.. I would definitely space that out.

I feel like I would not be as concerned about the course load of taking both at the same time as much as the foundation from Gen Chem 2 helping you for Organic 1. If I remember correctly, a lot of of my Organic 1 course focused on analyzing structures and determining which was the stronger acid/base. Accordingly, Gen Chem 2 taught me the basis of acid/base chemistry.

Honestly I would say it just depends on your course load, your strengths, and how difficult the courses are at your institution. At my undergrad, the Gen Chem courses were really easy and Orgo was historically very difficult.

I was a TA for Orgo 1 and 2 for 2 years and from my observations, the students that really suffered the most were the ones who didn't put enough time into practice questions in Orgo.

For your specific situation, I'd say if you can avoid having a heavy/difficult course load while you're taking Orgo you will be in much better shape to succeed in it.

I would say it depends on your course load and how much you can handle intense work. I had a friend who took Gen chem 2 and Orgo 1 at the same time and did great in both. BUT it is definitely VERY hard.
