I'm making this post for a friend. I've already taken physio and I'm in my gap year. He doesnt know about this wonderful forum lol so I'm trying to help him out b/c he needs to decide fast if he should take physio p/np

Anyhow, my friend is in his final year at a UC studying genetics. He has a 3.7+ gpa and has taken all the med school pre req sciences (ochem physics gchem bio calc). He has also taken cell bio, genetics, 2 quarters of biochem, microbio, immunology, and several in-depth genetics courses that are specific to his major. He's taking physio right now but wants to know if it's ok if he just takes it p/np because he's doing a lot of EC's and he doesnt want to get a B/B-

Would it be ok for him to take it p/np since he already took lots of other upper div bio courses? Physio isn't really required by med schools, so he's wondering if its ok?

No one will care

As long as it's not a prerequisite, it really doesn't matter to much if if you take a class p/np.

So it shouldn't be a red flag on his app?
Actually, every line-item on his transcript could stand to be a red flag, make sure he gets a microscope and probe over it TWICE before sending to AAMC
/sarcasm

Guys please don't word vomit the word "red flag." A red flag is a semester GPA of 2.0, a felony/violent crime conviction record, 21 MCAT, or 4 years out of school with 2 career switches. Absolutely no one will care about one single course taken P/D/F during SENIOR YEAR. Few will notice, and the day that becomes a red flag, we might as well give up on this med school app process thing. lol
