for taxonomy,

is kaplan enough? or should i go for cliffs?

kaplan is more broad and general
and cliffs goes into very detailed and specific compared to kaplan

this taxonomy chapter is just killing me
which one should i focus more?

Broad. Review the table in cliff's before your test to make sure you remember all the major branches but don't pay too much attention to Cliffs. Especially in the fungi section it gives you WAY more info than you need!

I think cliffs covers everything you need you know.

Alright, I have Cliffs 3rd edition and the 2009 Kaplan Review Notes book, and I am running into some confusion (and fear I might have wasted some time). I just got done drilling away at the 5 kingdom classification system in Kaplan. Unfortunately, I then looked in Cliffs, only to find the 3 domain system.

On the overview sheet I printed off the ADA website (copyright 2011), they have listed "Section II. Diversity of Life (Five-Kingdom System)." I think I'm just going to keep studying the Kaplan five kingdom, but there doesn't seem to be much of a consensus on SDN as to which one is actually worth studying.

There isn't a consensus because taxonomy questions in the purely "Which phylum" are rarely seen if ever.

Just be familiar with both systems if you're really stressing but its really not all that important imo.

I read through kaplan first, then committed the cliffs table to memory. Not so much on fungi and plants, mostly invertebrates and vertebrates.

I used Cliffs exclusively for the Bio sections, the Kaplan is good for everything else, just very vague when it comes to the living things section of the test.
