From TBR Chapter 1 Freestanding questions-
The question is "Nicotinic cholinergic receptors can be found at all of the following locations except:
A. cells of the adrenal medulla
B. autonomic nervous system ganglia
C. postganglionic parasympathetic neuron targets
D. endplates of motor neurons"

The answer is C, but I thought nAChRs are found in all of those places. Does it have something to do with nicotinic vs muscarinic ACh receptors? I'm having a hard time understanding the difference between the two.

Bingo - muscarinic receptors are GPCRs seen in the effectors of the Parasympathetic system. They initiate second messenger pathways and are slower to manifest their results than their companion nicotinic receptors (which work by directly impacting ion channels).
