Does anyone use the BIO 2 books for the passages? I've heard that TBR BIO2 is too dense and time consuming to be of benefit, so I thought doing the passages were pointless too since a lot of them are based on the chapter content...

Anyone agree/disagree or have thoughts on it?

The passages were actually fairly decent. There may be an occasional question focusing on too much trivia but as a whole I would say they're quite useful. There may be a bit more focus on biochem than what I've seen from AAMC but take that with a grain of salt - I've only taken AAMC 3/4 so far.

The review part is a whole different story. The amount of biochem in the metabolism chapters is overwhelming and not really useful even for their passages - I only skimmed over most of the review material and still did fairly well on the passages. The second part of the book also needs some editing - it felt repetitive and unfocused to read.

In short - the passages are good, the review sections were disappointing.

Wouldn't recommend reading the chapters, but the passages are worth working through.

the passages are def. worth doing, although some are really detailed/harder than usual. i did the passages and skimmed through the reading.

I think book 1 (physiology) is great. Book 2 (molecular bio) has too many unnecessary info and the passages are extremely hard.

I already finished TBR1 through and through.

I was referring just to TBR2 metabolism/genetics stuff... but I guess by the consensus on here, Ill give it a go and see how it is.

It can't hurt unless you are pressed for time. Good luck! 🙂

I think it's worth it as long as you have been spending time on the practice exams. There's no harm in doing those as well!

They were rediculous until I got through all of my content review. Now they are fine. The problem with TBR bio is that they include a lot of topics they have yet to be covered. It would be beneficial to use them now that you are through your content review.

Disagree. TBRs Book 1 Physiology is horrible. The passages are a mixed bag. Half a great half are worthless. Had to use Saladin Anatomy and Physiology for clarification. I actually like TBRs Book2 better. Not the way the chapters are written, but the passages. Those passages are worth doing. Really gears you up for anything molecular bio related. There are some good experimental passages in those chapters too.
