I'm a little confused here - I've been working with EK bio for content review and I'm now working with passages - in Kaplan's FL and the AAMC exams I took so far I'm averaging between a 10-11 on BS. But then I started using the passages in BR and I've dropped to about the 7 range. I just wanted to know how indicative the BR Bio passages are of the actual thing - should I keep going through it (I find the questions are largely knowing little minutes details as opposed to the big picture - actually skipped reading a few passages and just did the questions and got the majority of those answers right lol) or should I dump the bio passages if I'm scoring 10-11 consistantly on the AAMC exams?

BR is amazing for the PS but I feel it's a bit of a let down in Bio/Verbal

I've been wondering about this too.
The Q's that I miss are the ones that involve really detailed information that just come out of nowhere.

I thought the same thing. I have been following SN2ed schedule but I really don't like the EK bio-TBR passages combo because I agree with you, the questions are based on very small details. I think I am going to use the TPR bio and TPR science workbook and if i have time I will come back and do TBR bio.

I also agree that TBR is great for sciences but I don't think their bio is indicative of MCAT biology. goodluck.

I'm not really following the schedule, per se, but I am using alot of the same equipment simply because that's the consensus of what works on here. I think I'll just stick to Kaplan passages (they're a bit detailed too but not as much as BR)

I'd love to hear from those who used BR prep and wrote and what they thought

The consensus is that the BR passages are HARD. However, they accurately reflect some of the crazy ass passages that can show up on the real MCAT. I think that a lot of people said if you are getting about 60-70% of the questions right, then you're doing good. BR Review is pretty hard in general, and their biology section is great--but killer.

Although I say there are really minute detailed Q's, I think they are so hard that they make you think using your critical thinking side of your brain to the maximum. In addition, these long passages make you train reading comprehension of science.

I've been doing TPR content review + TBR corresponding passages for biology. I just got access back to TPR online and tried some passages there. I have to say these look significantly easier than before when I took the course last year.

IMO working on TBR passages is good if you are aiming for a 12+. All other passages are sufficient for a 10+.

Would you say that reading BR bio is important to do well on their passages? Or should the passages be used separately in conjunction with EK or TPR reading? BR does have good explanations for their answers

Just got owned on the genes 2nd 1/3rd bio!!
Will review my answers and hopefully be ready for the 3rd 1/3rd in a month.

Just got totally destoryed in TBR bio passage for EK chp. 1...OH mannn I guess im gonna have to get used to seeing 50-60% on these passages...haha
