Shouldn't the answer to the question below be B? In my head and seemingly even from the explanation, the cause would be the demographic change and the effect is the breakdown of traditional authority. Where am I getting mixed up?
82. The author feels that the breakdown of traditional authority in the Jewish community life of eastern Europe in the 19th century:

A is the best answer. Question type: Evaluation. The best answer is choice A: The author views the demographic change as a cause of the decline in traditional authority in Jewish life, rather than a result of it. Paragraph 3: "Related to the population explosion, and no doubt partly a cause of it, was the disintegration of traditional Jewish society in eastern Europe." The best answer is A.
B. was one result of the population explosion of that time.
C. neither A nor B.
D. both A and B.
