So the question asks what will happen to a glass filled with water to the brim with an ice cube in it as it melts.
The correct answer was that it will stay level..
The answer I chose was that it level would decrease.
My reasoning was that water expands when frozen and thus occupies a larger area than if its in a liquid state. So if it was put back into a liquid state, it would result in a lower water level.
Can anyone help explain the right answer?
