I just completed the 2nd 1/3rd of the chem test from chapter 1 and was doing well until I hit passage XI where there were 4-5 calcs that put me into the over 7min mark. Is it realistic to have a string of calculations like this on the aamc mcat?

I haven't actually taken the exam, but after doing several practice exams I have realized that all scenarios are possible. The majority of the exam should be concept questions with little to no necessary calculations, but you should develop a method to easily estimate answers. Round wisely. If the answers differ exponentially, do the problem with exponents mainly. That kind of stuff will get you through longer calculations faster.
