So i got the Berkeley Review books for Gen Chem and Physics. How would you all recommend going through them for content review instead of simply reading straight though? (Ex: Read each chapter twice, note cards, etc.) I want to make sure I have content review down cold!

Here is what I did..I read each chapter twice and highlighted at the same time, important concepts/equations or stuff that just seemed important to me. For Gen Chem after reading each chapter twice, I did only the odd number passages at the end. When I finish my entire review I will go back and do the even number of passages, that way I will test myself on the material. For physics I did the 25 quastions at the end of each chapter and did the odd number passages. Also highliting stuff. Did not bother taking notes...waste of time...for me at least. The Gen Chem is very detailed IMOH but it has good passages.🙂

I found it helpful to really know the nuts and bolts of the subjects. I wrote down anything I missed or was not familiar with and then searched internet/books/etc. until i felt i truly UNDERSTOOD all the ins and outs of the topic. By doing this i raised my score from a 28 to 34 in a 4 month time span.

I'm making flash cards for each chapter. I write down important concepts/equations from each chapter. I feel like it's easier to study from flashcards than to go back and reread a chapter. While I'm reading, I also highlight and make notes in the margins. At the end of reading/flash card making I do a number of passages.

How did you comprehensively review each week during content review? I read until I truly understand something but I feel it's difficult to have it down as well as I had say 2-4 weeks ago..

How often do you think you'd go through the flash cards each week?

I did the flashcards and underlining thing too. It can be time consuming so toward the end I ended up only doing flashcards on things I knew I wouldn't be able to review straight from the books that I tabbed and underlined. I would review the cards pretty much at every opportunity: walking to and from class, meals, waiting for the professor to get set up and/or start class, getting up in the morning, going to bed, red lights (not suggested). If you are consistently reviewing you are more likely to retain past weeks of studying. I'd make sure and hit on parts of each section at least once a week if not more. Stressful yet worth it - in my opinion!
