TBR MCAT Practice Tests

How do the scores compare to the AAMCs? Are these graded harsher like the TPR? If so, by how much?

I don't know...I took BR1-3 last year. the scores are completely whack. they say like if you miss this range of questions then you'll get between a 13 and 15. in other words, they don't know how the scoring works so they just BS it.

the actual tests I had had a few errors in them. they're definitely harder than AAMC. I know harder practice is better to do, but I don't think it's any better than other companies' "harder than AAMC" tests.

My TBR scores have been pretty close to my AAMC scores, so they seem like a good indicator. The 13-15 top end range doesn't bother me, because I rarely get in that range on any section. I'm glad to hear someone has to worry about the curve's accuracy in the 13-15 range. 🙂

I'm curious what errors you mean. Are you talking about the figures sometimes being aligned weird? Those bothered me at first, but even AAMC has some glitchy diagrams.

I personally like the BR exams more than the other exams I've done.

some of the questions are wrong. the correct answer will be B, you mark B, but their grading system grades the correct answer as C for some reason haha. also, a few questions I came across were plain wrong in 1-3.

the tests are just real buggy.

oh and no, I don't get in the 13-15. i wish 😉. altho, this time, i think i can maybe get that high in the PS at least. i haven't taken any practice tests yet this year

does anyone know how reflective their bio section is to a real mcat? the past couple mcats seem to be brutal for bio and are very reading comp based...are the berkeley review CBT's like that at all?

yep, basically any practice bio is okay as long as it isn't AAMC bio. EK is pretty lousy IMO. the more reading comp-based you can find, the better.

I haven't taken the real MCAT yet, so I don't know for sure. Considering most people disappear from the MCAT room after they take the MCAT, I doubt we'll get many answers.

I will say that the BR bio sci practice exams (CBTs and ones in class) are harder than AAMC and seem more realistic than the ones in the BR books. I like that there are many passages on experiments and that the questions make you think, but aren't the tricky types like some of the ones in the books. They seem a lot like what people talk about here in the MCAT threads, so I feel like they are a good indicator. But ask me on April 19, after I finally wake up.

I envy you haha...I really want to finally wake up, too, but I'll have another 2 weeks after you wake up. 😕

But yea, the real MCAT bio is going to be very reading-comp intensive. That's why you don't waste your time memorizing little bio details and instead take as many gritty, long, in-depth bio passages as possible. you're being warned now from SDN how reading-comp based the real one is. so don't be shocked when you see the real one and it doesn't mirror the AAMC tests. the thing is, even tho it seems harder on the real one, you end up getting a score within your AAMC range anyway.

if you're really good at reading-comp, you're basically guaranteed great BS and VR scores.
