Hi guys,

I have a quick question from TBRPhysics Book1 Waves and Periodic Motion page-257 #32

My answer D based on the formula T=2Pi(m/k)^1/2
Correct answer is B because the passage provided with the formula T=1/2pi (g/L)^1/2 only so period is not dependent on mass.

My question is do we only use the formulas provided by the passage only or this is a special case?

You are talking about two equations for two different systems.
The one you already know is for springs, while the one from the passage is for pendulum.
Also, it's T = 2pi(l/g)^1/2. The one you provided is for frequency.

Once again, as I always say to ppl who are weak in physics, DO NOT JUST MEMORIZE EQUATIONS.
