If you gain heat, don't you shift to expel heat? So, in an endothermic reaction, wouldn't you shift to products and in an exothermic reaction wouldn't you shift to reactants?

It's kind of tricky the way they say it. I think what they meant is the R + heat ----->P reaction has to react is a way to relieve itself from that stress ie absorbing that heat.

If you gain heat, you shift to absorb the heat, not expel it. There is no way to "expel (get rid of)" heat, you can either create it or you can absorb it. Since here you are getting extra heat, which your system does not like, it will work to absorb that heat in the form of higher energy bonds. Thus, the endothermic reaction will proceed forward, absorbing some of this excess heat, and returning the system to a more comfortable equilibrium, at the lower temperature.

You're simply replacing "absorb" in their sentence with "expel." The only way to expel heat is to absorb it. But yes, your sentence is correct, as long as you know that expelling heat actually means absorbing heat.
