Well, they were going to increase the class size but the accreditation committee told them not to until they've graduated their first class, so it will remain 65 next year as well.
I meant that being put on probation would deter people from applying there or attending there if accepted. So less applicants + more movement on the wait list = higher chance of getting in.
So far the waiting list hasn't moved at all this entire year, from what I've heard.
Doubtful there will be a change. But that was before it was known that they are having financial problems and will be placed on probation. I can imagine this can be a major issue to those deciding between Commonwealth and another school that they got accepted to in the upcoming cycle.
It's extremely doubtful they would lose accreditation. LCME keeps a close eye on all new schools to prevent that from happening. They keep a close eye on all schools actually - one of the great reasons to get a US MD. The worst thing that could potentially happen is LCME would probably decide to not let them accept a new class, finish off the classes they have, and then close the school. And no, it's not horrible that the school can't expend the number of students it accepts. It's a new school and really should be focusing on it's foundation - then expanding. LCME realizes this and told them to cool-it.I doubt it would have much of an impact on current students unless the school LOSES accreditation or something.
