Tech guy trying for Dental school again

I graduated back in 2019 with a 2.8 GPA and even attempted a masters program but dropped out with a sub 3 GPA; however, thanks to a combination of good connections, covid hiring boom, and sheer luck, I was able to get a SWE position in Google; however, as I am entering my 5th year, I really don't have any passion for tech in general and still have that desire to be a Dentist.

It's probably a hopeless case and I really should just move on, but what would my prospects be if I did an another masters?

Don't do it, it's so much debt and time. Think of the opportunity cost, especially since you already have a good job. Even though you don't have a passion for tech, at least it's a job and gets food on the table. The economy isn't doing great because of the Idiot in Charge, don't rock the boat now.

That being said, OP i'm sure you'd be better off financially staying in tech if you're in a position to invest a decent amount of your salary.

I'll never understand people like this who are so obsessed with politics they throw political jabs at people just trying to ask for honest advice. Nobody is asking for it. We get it. You hate Trump. Move on with your life. Don't let politics become your religion.

With that said, OP, I'd stick with tech. Getting into a state school will be tough given your track record and seems like you've got a decent job now. Moreover, even if you get into your state school, it's likely going to cost 350K+ which isn't worth it. I highly doubt you'll find a "passion" for dentistry.

Steering the conversation back to the OP's question:

Have you asked other dentists about your interest while shadowing them? Would you consider becoming a dental assistant while you make final decisions? Have you listened to other dentists about the challenges of the industry, with the presence of more "corporate" or private-funded entities? Have you gone to dental conferences or looked at the agendas (subscribe to Dental Town)?

I admit Tech isn't as attractive as it used to be, but I don't think "stability" was ever associated with the industry. Dentistry is certainly more stable as long as you are extremely flexible in order to continue keeping your hand skills up while the field changes technologically around you. (And yes, you will enter an industry that is very politically diverse because of the nature of the dental/healthcare industry [let's talk insurance].)
