Has anyone ever heard of this program.
I am considering Foreign medical schools and I know of residents at Colombia and Cornell that both went to this program.

Does anyone have any additional info for me?

Thanks 🙄

Hi. I considered applying to the program last year, after their deadline, and the director of admissions expressed a strong interest in me. The first year is spent at Touro college taking courses like biochem, anatomy, nueroscience, etc. Then you move to Haifa Israel for the next 3.5 to 4 years. The program is not talked about as much as, say, Sackler, but seems to enjoy a good reputation. For instance Dr Carlos Pestana's book on foreign med schools ranks it as one of HIS top three choices. I've been in touch with some of their students both here and in Israel, and they appear happy with their choice. Let me know if you'd like more information.

Castaway,

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Your imput is much appreciated. This book by Carlos Pestana's on FM programs. I am intersted in getting a copy. What is the tile of this book and is this the authors name?

Thanks again.

I'm at Sackler, and I've heard good things about the Technion program.

One of the programs greatest strengths (and weaknesses) is it's size: 13-17/year. I've heard lectures are like graduate seminars, which could be very cool.

However, if you don't like someone, it could get VERY frustrating.

Don't forget to check out Sackler and the Ben Gurion program if you're thinking about Israel.
Also the Aussie and Irish programs...

Hi, guys 🙂

I'm not in the program, but I'm a med-student in Technion, Israel ... and considering a future career in the United States. It could be great to habe provessional pen-pals all over the world ... feel free to mail-ICQ me 🙂

Goodluck, anywayzzzzzzzz 🙂

Hello, again. Well, I don't really have Pestana's book. My pre-med advisor made me a copy of his descriptions of RCSI (Ireland), Sackler, and Technion. I can mail these to you, if you send me an address (sorry, don't have access to a scanner). E2k's point about small classes is excellent--in fact this year they seem to have only about 12 people in their program. It seems to me that if your stats are decent, or if you show excellence in an area such as volunteer service, they'll happily accept you. I also think that in the post-9/11 world fewer American students will opt for Isreali med schools, making it that much easier for "risk-takers." [I think the perceived threat is much too exaggerated]

I believe that any program can mold a good future physician, if that student has his heart set on not letting any obstacle get in the way. Whether it be Israel, Caribbean, or Tora Bora, medicine is still medicine! Just pass them boards kid and the road to residency is clear! just remember in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king, so I could just be blowing smoke up your rear.
