Telephone Interview...Help!

Well my first interview is...by phone! What kind of questions do they ask? The email says this is the first part before extending a campus visit invite. Will I get pimped like on rounds? I am an IMG studying in Europe, but I'm born and bred in good 'ol USA! Is this unusual? 😱 Thanks

Our PD says that they often conduct "phone interviews" with non-AMGs just to get a sense of their english proficiency. The fact that any program has extended the phone invite likely means that they are interested. Therefore, provided that your english skills haven't fallen to the sub-par levels of the Brits(*laugh*), you are probably on solid footing! 🙂

I agree that for me at this time, to fly to US for a cup of coffee would be a burden and telephone interview is great, but I was just curious if they would give me a case or pimp me on ACLS algorithm or something strange and I'll choke on the phone and then its file 13 for me!!! 😱 oh well, we'll see. I'll let you know. 👍

FWIW, I wrangled a phone interview last year (I was out of the US, but not very far out) and managed to convert it into an in-person interview by um, expressing continued interest in said program.

I wouldn't worry too much about the phone interview. They just want to talk to you and will probably review parts of your application.
