O already signed up for a new date and someone plz tell me what I should do.
First of all, my first two choices are UCSF and UCLA.
I go to UCLA for undergraduate Physical science B.S. Biochemistry major and my GPA is 3.626 overall and 3.67 science.

I don't remember what exactly I got for each science but, around 22, and nothing less than 21.
I am retaking because of reading and PAT.

No. Check predents.com though just to see for yourself.

Don't retake, those are great scores. You will likely reach the point of diminishing returns in that even if you study like a banshee, you will only increase your scores a point or two. You're already >90th percentile in everything but reading. See the attachment for an idea of how good your scores are.

You have great scores. Do not retake. That would be silly. If you're not getting in with those scores and good gpa, there must be some other issue with your application. Just be patient.

If you went to the PDSOP meeting yesterday, then you already know that your stats are more or less at the average of UCLA (your GPA is a little higher than the average). And considering that you are Biochem, your GPA carries a little more weight in the eyes of UCLA D-school. Then know how rigorous our Biochem program is. Therefore, you should be ok without retaking the DAT. Just make sure the rest of your app is looking good (i.e., EC, dent exp, comm serv., etc.).

On a side note: Since UCLA D-school is relatively familiar with the Chem dept. at UCLA, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a LOR from a Chem professor. I suggest Bacher (the dental school knows how hard he is, and his recommendation would carry some extra weight).

Was it necessary for you to post all 23242344235345 ECs of yours on predents? They are impressive though...

i think you should.....

u know yourself if you should or should not. ur dat report would have told u that ur scores were in the 90th percentile... stop being stupid.

It feels as though this person is a troll....seriously 3.6 from UCLA with 22? I don't mean to sound mean but it ticks me off so much when people with pretty high stats post their worries on this forum. Either you don't read other posts or you are waay too worried that you need reassurance from others that your stats are good.

You have solid scores and your RC score is not that bad either. Don't retake!

hmm, i had similar stats as well, but 23PAT 25QR...or something like that, applied to USC, UCLA, and UCSF. I'd had a decent amount of EC and dental experience + research, but i still didnt get into any of them...

however.......rec letters didnt get submitted until late October/early November, so i was forced to withdraw app to UCSF, decided not to send in secondary app for UCLA, and went to USC interview but withdrew shortly thereafter....oh, and i'm also not a Cali resident.....lmao...

but seriously, if you lack the confidence and drive to properly compare your stats with the 500million other posts on this forum of people asking the exact same thing to determine if you should retake the DAT or apply, especially when we tell other people that their scores, similar to your's, are good enough to get them to school XYZ, then you need to take a step back and reevaluate yourself, dental school is not for the squeamish. Though you may, in your own world, want to believe that you are different than everyone else here so the comments people make on other posts dont apply to you, the comments people make are usually universal and apply to everyone. If you dont know what criteria DS's use for admissions there are plenty of posts and resources you can go look at to find your answer...
