I forgot if you rent your instruments at Temple or purchase. Does anyone know? I cant find the info online.

If you do purchase, how much does it cost each year? Is that in addition to tuition?

The cost info came with the acceptance letter. I asked and that list is supposed to be comprehensive.

I dont remember seeing it in mine. Just the amount I have to pay for a deposit. Did anyone else get this tuition cost sheet in their acceptance? What does it say on it?

I think you pay around 6k your first year for instruments and you pay a little less your second year. Then you have to replace stuff you need, break, etc.

Not sure about instruments. But I can tell you this:
- you have to cover the bills of your patients if they don't pay up.
- the dean of temple isn't a dentist
- temple is in a part of philly that smells. smells.
- Brian Hahn has interracial orgies with BadVibes and SlimDeets.

I am embarrassed to say that I did not notice a smell while I was there. I did notice it was in a bad neighborhood, but with that came the plethora of patients. I know this is bad a generalization, but excluding retired people, it is mostly people who do not have dental insurance and/or can not afford to go to a dentist that visit dental schools. Temple being in an impoversihed area kind of lends to what a great school it is. Most dental students I talked to I asked the very important question, "Do you have enough patients to complete your requirements to graduate?" A lot of people had stories of dragging family members in (Milwaukee, LA, and Portland, OR). In Philly each Senior laughed and said that most people are done early and able to practice what they feel they need work on for their regionals. I have also checked the number of requirements for these schools, more less its the same. Temple really has so many patients that there are few down days for the students.

That was lengthy. What I mean is: My goal is to be a great dentist...not to attend the flashiest school there is.

I asked a D2 when I was interviewing at Temple ans she told me that you buy your instrument

For the first year, she paid a little more than 6000 for the Fall semester.. I forget about Spring or if there were any to buy in Spring...

Lets let someone who DID get into Temple (let alone dental school) answer this question.

You pay 10K for all your instruments here at Temple...some of them are sweet, some of them are made in Pakistan and are crap, worth 100 bucks and you may never use them...but it is up to each department to figure out what you need and don't need, and I haven't used everything yet, so i may be wrong.

The first year you shell out almost 7K, the second year you pay out 3K. It all comes out of loans though so you don't worry about it. Just keep them nice, don't lose them, and lock your stupid droors when you leave the lab...if not they tend to 'walk' away.

I also will say that the curing light you get is one of the coolest things you have...it is the size of a pen...not some dorky looking ray gun from star trek.
