Hey, how is going. I was stumped with the same questions before i went to my interview at temple. I wouldn't worry about it. Nobody in my group knew the answer to the "how many drugs in the market". If you want you can find all the answers on google. The drugs and the registered pharmacist. If you still can't find them, let me know and i can give them to you. I wouldn't worry too much about those questions.
The interview was very comfortable not stressful at all. The main question why you want to be a pharmacist and why temple. That is what they care about more.
IF i can be of any more service just let me know.

thanks for the reply. i found out the number of pharmacists in the US but still haven't found the number of drugs. oh well...
also, i heard that they make you write an essay (yuck!). what was your topic about? do you know their interview/acceptance ratio? (my interview's next week...)

Well the good thing is there is NO essay. The PCAT had an essay section, therefore no essay. So, look forward to that.
I think they told us that they were interviewing around 600 or more applications.
Last year they had 168 seats open...so i am guessing it is going to be the same thing. I don't know their exact ration but from those numbers i can guess it is around 1:4 or somewhere around there.

Yea all my pre-reqs are taken care of. I already got an BS in biochem, so i had all of it finished. I am was only missing like 3 which i am exempt because of that.

Please be aware that for last year, people who were interviewed in January, still did not get their acceptance letters until may (after they had interviewed everyone). Granted last year, admin was trying to figure out how to use the PCAT in their decisions. Hopefully they will have a better system this year. Still...expect a long wait. If you have another interview for another school, plan to go. It's in your best interest. Good luck.

Yea i hope they won't take as long as MAY either. I hope to hear from them sooner. I thought they were doing rolling basis this year, so it should be a little faster. Atleast i wish.
I am going to the other interviews.....since i haven't been accepted anywhere yet. Don't want to put all my hope in one school.
well i guess now it is just a waiting game.....are you guys going anywhere else for interviews or what temple just it.

Well for the people who have already had the interview, get ready we should hear something in couple of weeks. I found out that they were meeting today for the first time to decide on the interview applicants so far. So, hopefully we will find out something in couple of weeks...that is my guess since they are meeting today (2/17) to review the interview notes.
I wonder if they are going to go by the interview or they are going to look at the whole application again to decide. I really hope i get accepted to temple...i really want to go there. Lets just all hope that we can get in or atleast find out something soon....i feel like i am going to have an heart attack because of all this stress and worrying.

Well when i was leaving from work...i went to the office to ask. The assistant dean was pulling out of the office with a cart full of application. So, i can asked him and he told me that they were about to go meet.
I am soooo nervous...it is going to suck if i don't get in.....

well it looks like we are going to be waiting for a while. I just asked the admissions for update and they said it might another 2 weeks or so if not more. So, i am just going to wait till MAY. they might send it out after all interviews are done, so i guess it is not rolling basis.
Well good luck bro and it is going to to be a long wait. I will keep you posted as i hear anything. Let me know if you hear something....but get ready for a long haul man.

well guys...i just talked to the admissions and she told me that my letter was sent out yesterday. However it isn't good new...i was put on waiting list. DOes anyone here know what it means when it comes to temple. What chance do i really have now???? since i was put on waiting list. Well thsi just totally ruined my weekend....but good thing i have one more interview on monday....time to prepare for that.

I'm on the alternate list also! I read the letter and it says that only about 12-15 people get off the list and are accepted. That seems kind of low.

we need more information on our application progress. More students should find this site and post...even if you got rejected or accepted. I thought that since it is rolling admissions and we had the interview early, we should have a better chance. seems to me that they send out alternate acceptances even to applicants with pretty good stats. i rather have them wait till end of march to make their final decision. what's the point of having rolling admissions if they are going to put us on the waiting list to see the rest of the applicants? I also really want to know how many are put on the alternate list because only about 15 get accepted. also, am i on the top or very bottom of the list?

does anyone feel me on this, or am i just complaining?

i am happy to hear some one atleast got an acceptance letter. I am anxiosuly waiting and hoping for the best. I interviewed feb 6th and was told a letter was sent out to me on friday. I live in MD so should hear something today at the most. Cant wait to get home

I actually applied pretty late (towards the end of february), so I haven't been invited for an interview yet. 🙁 I called, and they said that my application was waiting to get reviewed.
I was wondering how you guys did on your PCAT. I actually have 2 girls in my physics class who had a composite score in the 30th percentile, and had an interview last year.
Do you know what kind of grades/scores they are looking for?


Also haven't heard anything from MCPHS. My friend and I applied at the same time, and she received a rejection letter today - so I don't know if its good or bad that I haven't heard anything yet.

I'm starting to freak out. I'm actually making a backup plant right now, just in case I don't get accepted. 🙁 🙁

well its not really bad news cuz i was interviewed on jan 30th and got my letter last week. you should get yours in about a week or so.

So, if you have both then you should get an interview. Just having one will not have, so if you have both requirements you should get an interview.
You also applied to MCPHS...the worcester campus??? I just had my interview there on monday. The school is very nice, but i talked to the admissions and they said that they do have quite a few seats filled up already. But they do interview till like may or something.

I have a 3.08 overall GPA, and I was invited for an interview, so your info is a little off. 🙂 Don't give up, you still have a chance. They did tell me that March is the last month that they will be holding interviews when I called, so maybe you'll find out soon!

Hey guys......looks like my backup plan just came through. I had an interview at MCPHS-worcester monday and I just recieved my acceptance yesterday in mail
Still hoping and patiently waiting for the temple letter......atleast i have somewhere to go next year.....

I received an alternate letter from Temple and it said that they usually accept 12-15 people off the list and that if accepted you would most likely be notified over the summer.

You actually have the correct info, I was told the same thing when I called - 3.2 GPA and 50 percentile on PCAT (my GPA is 3.66, and my PCAT was 63 percentile), but there are two girls in my physics class that applied last year with a PCAT in the 30th percentile and were invited for an interview. They didn't get accepted, but I guess that the rest of their application wasn't strong enough.

I also have almost 5 years of experience in the pharmacy (started at 16yrs old) where I worked full time as a senior certified tech while taking 18 credits, so I hope that they take that into consideration.

I'll keep you updated though, hopefully I'll have something to tell you by the end of the week. 🙂

You wanna hear something funny? I was talking to my boss today about applying to pharmacy schools, and I mentioned that I applied to Temple. She was like "OMG, you do not want to go there!!!" (She's a USP graduate) first she told me that the school is not accredited, and when I told her that it is...she told me that its one of the worst pharmacy schools out there and that I would have a hard time finding a job as a pharmacist if I graduated from there (I really don't think that pharmacists have a hard time finding jobs - I know someone who got fired for stealing, and got hired a week later at a different pharmacy down the street)

Then she continued telling me about USP and how great it is, and how its the first pharmacy school in the US. I wanted to smack her so bad. 🙂

So since she had such a great education from USP, I asked her how anti-virals like acyclovir work to kill the virus, and she told me to google it because she wasn't sure. Yep, that really makes me believe her about how great USP is.

LOL...that is so weird. Last year i worked at this mail order pharmacy company and i swear every week there were like 5 new graduates and next week there would be five new ones. Most of them i talked to, they were all from USP. They told me the same thing, about why i am applying to temple and so on....i found it really amusing. I guess once to attend some school you can't help but bash the other schools...especially the ones in the same state.
it is good to hear that mCPHS is ur first choice....the school itself is amazing. SO is the curiculum....mini-clinical during your first year. That sounds very helpul and 3 years....just the tution is holding me back.
But hopefully you will get in....maybe i will see you at temple or MCPHS.

Yep, no problem. I already emailed her and she said she will stop by the admissions office somtime this week. I'll post anything I find out!

So, I was wondering about those comments you and Pharmgirl85 had heard regarding Temple's program. I know everyone has their own opinions, but I haven't heard anything too negative about Temple's program. From people I know that work at pharmaceutical companies, they all have said that Temple has high Naplex pass rates and students that have interned with them are all knowledgeable. Most pharmacists say nowadays, it really doesn't matter where you graduate from. As long as you get licensed, you won't have any problems finding a job.

Oh i am sorry if i came off saying negative things about temple....that was not my intention. I was just saying that graduates from one college tend to belittle other schools, especially the ones in the same state.
I actually really like temple and i hope to attend there for the next four years. Right now i am stuck on the alternate list....but hope to get off that and into accpetance.

When I went to visit, I met with the admissions councelor...who told me that I have great grades, and I should have no problem getting in. Now I get this letter 🙁 . When I asked him why they decided not to accept me, he said that he wants me to get more experience from a 4-year university, and to re-apply next year.
Whats more experiecne going to do...my pre-reqs will still be from a community college...thats not going to change.

I feel so ready for this, I kills me not to know what I will be doing next semester. 🙁 And I thought that they would be impressed that I'm getting my bachelor's in 3 years...not they want me to stay at Montcliar another year??? Why???? Am I being punished for not wasting time with classes that dont interest me???

Anyway, I actually work with someone that graduated from MCPHS-Boston, and he said that he had a really great experience. So when I went to visit the campus, I really felt like i could fit in there - and enjoy those 3 hectic years. I guess the committee didn't feel that way 🙁 .

Hey.....i am so so sorry about the MPCHS....it would have been nice to see you there. i don't understand the admissions committe sometimes.....they ask for the dumbest things.
My overall GPA is 3.85 and pre-req GPA is 4.0, science GPA is 3.95 and PCAT was around ~70th percentile. I guess they didn't like my stats.....that is why they put me on the alternate list. I guess PCAT was not good enough....i don't know. I applied in november and i interviews with the very first group (jan 30th). All my grades are from one university. I also work at the pharmacy school so i get pretty good experience.
Hopefully you will get better results from temple....i know how you feel. Last year when i graduated....i didn't know what i was going to do now. Not knowing what to do next semester sucks and i hated it. Just keep up the hard work and faith. I sat out a year aswelll.......it actually helped me decide what i really wanted to do and get some experience. I was going to take my PCAT again i jan, but i thought my grades and experience would kind of make up for it.
Well sorry again about MCPHS and keep the faith, if you are meant to do pharmacy you will get in somewhere.
Everything happens for a reason!!!!!

P.S. Buying some new schools for the coming summer might help a little!!!!!!!!

I'm actually hoping to get accepted to Temple, that's just what my boss was saying....but I spoke with other pharmacists at work and they said that Temple was great.
My boss is an idiot.
