Acceptance letter arrived today! Came by snail mail, so I guess they aren't going green after all. Good luck to everyone still waiting!
I received my acceptance letter yesterday as well...However, I must say that I was extremely disappointed by what I saw on Monday. The program is extremely unorganized and words cannot describe the area (SCARY) Temple is in. Most concerning, is the fact that we are unable to apply to any other medical schools... Yes, there is a guaranteed acceptance to Temple, but at what cost? If you do well in a post-bacc program then odds are you are likely to get into a medical school (perhaps a better school) anyway (especially if your application is already in good shape with extracurricular activities, MCAT, etc)
Another major drawback to the program is that we are taking graduate level courses. One of the ACMS students actually admitted to being unprepared for the following year and said that it is a real weakness to the program... Overall, the students I spoke with seemed unenthusiastic about the program (maybe I spoke with the wrong people)
Overall, this program seems like a good opportunity from a distance. But I strongly urge people to take a closer look... My academic advisors from my undergraduate university agreed with me on this, and have encouraged me to pursue other opportunities.

I think you bring up some great points. Other programs will provide a lot more freedom of where to apply and considering some of the serious financial drawbacks, (expensive and cannot get Grad Plus Lending thereby requiring over 30k in private loans), of Temple it is not the place for everyone.
Not to mention that I too got the feeling that many of the students were not excited and the anecdote about the one person that did apply elsewhere and was nearly kicked out of the program / blacklisted was gloomy to say the least.
I am filling out fafsa information now and while some other programs might be more expensive, because they are considered graduate, you can receive federal loan money with a lower interest rate that wil cover all or nearly all of your expenses. I am still at a loss on why they won't consider it a graduate program at Temple.

I interviewed on June 8th, and have yet to hear anything back yet. What's with the snail mail? I thought it was supposed to come via email!!! My thoughts are this program is for people who barely got into medical school this past cycle. While the program has a built in MCAT prep, most people I talked to met the min. MCAT requirement. My plan pre-Temple interview was to apply very early this cycle and use Temple as a back-up... Unfortunately, if accepted to Temple I will not be able to do that and that alone may stop me from entering the program. I guess you have to weigh the pros and cons. Temple has never been my dream school and visiting the area confirms this, but the new med school building is nice. Decisions! Decisions!
Just got my acceptance letter via e-mail! I'm absolutely thrilled. Though I'm also curious what they're doing at the office on a Saturday evening.

I wasn't sure how definite that plan was so I called the office asking if that was still the plan for notification. The woman at the office said that they were having e-mail trouble and that she would resend my e-mail. I got no e-mail and about an hour later I called back and they were out of the office for the day.
I got my e-mail this evening and I'm an alternate. Yet the "list is not ranked" so I'm confused by how they will determine which alternates if any are chosen.
Congratulations to those who were accepted! Did anyone from 6/8 get the financial aid information that was supposed to be e-mailed to us?

I just called about the financial aid info that was supposed to be sent out, and apparently there was a mix-up about who was sending it. Hopefully they should have it straightened out now. If you still don't get anything, let me know and I'll post whatever I get.
Doesn't bode well if they are having this much trouble with such a minimal clerical issue. I guess it is another example of the apparent lack of organization within the program that PennStanley also mentioned.

So, it has been about 2 weeks since Temple received my transcript with final grades. Is there anyone who reads this thread that interviewed May 4th who has heard from the program after sending in their last semester of grades? It is a little disconcerting that the second round of interviewees has heard already, and I have yet to hear anything.

hey guys sorry I've been MIA I finally just graduated on Sunday! Congrats to those of you who interviewed in june 🙂 A couple of my friends ended up applying in late May but none got interviews and one actually got her application sent back to her. I think that there won't be any additional interview days and although they say it will be late july/august for final admissions details I am fairly certain everything will be mostly set by the end of this month....
That being said, for those of you who have been accepted/are hopefully waiting to hear you are accepted, I guess I'm in the market for apartment mates/ housemates. I've gone ahead and created a Facebook group for the class. It's open for now, but let me know if you think it should be private or invitation-only. I know a bunch of people are not from the area and have lots of questions about the logistics of moving and living there, finding roommates, etc, so hopefully this can facilitate some of that. One of the May acceptees emailed Ms. Grace Hershman and she said there was an interview group for July 6th 👍
jyb5011, last year there were originally 15 students in the ACMS program. One student dropped out leaving 14, and all 14 apparently made the 3.50 GPA cutoff. Of those, I am not sure how many made the 30 on the MCAT with no section less than 8.

I am interviewing on July 6th. I asked how long a decision would take and I got an email back saying within 5 business days.
Does anyone have more details about not being able to apply to any other schools? I am accepted to Georgetown's SMP, and they tell you to apply early. I already spent a lot of money on the AMCAS and am not sure I want to limit myself to just one option.
Regarding other applications, they said pretty much unequivocally that if they find out you've applied elsewhere, you'll be kicked out of the ACMS program. If you enter it, you are guaranteed acceptance (provided you make the GPA/MCAT requirement), but you are committing yourself to Temple.

I agree. Frankly, unless Temple is your dream school I would think long and hard of entering the program.

I called the post-bacc office several times to obtain a confirmation of receipt or status update and was told that I would receive an email. I have not received a single email from Temple. I called again to see if my application was received and was under review. I was told that everything will be decided by the end of July and the admissions committee were still making decisions. I still was not told whether my application was received/complete. Is it still possible to receive an interview or does this not look likely? Does notification for an interview come by mail or email?

When was your application completed? Just wondering if I should be expecting a rejection letter soon if I don't get an interview.
I don't remember exactly. I only applied a week or so into May, and it took another week to get all my transcripts in, so I would guess it was sometime around May 15th. They didn't confirm that it was complete or anything, I had given up on them until I got the interview invite by email on June 15th.
I've been checking out this thread for awhile now since Temple hasn't given me much information on where my application stands. I applied at the end of May and received a confirmation email on May29 that my application was complete. I called the office last week and the lady I spoke with kept repeating that final decisions will be made at the end of July. I'm guessing that I didn't get into the program since the interview is next week and I haven't received an invite.
I was complete on May 28 and I received a letter of rejection about a week ago. There was no other correspondence from them. They do have another interview date in July so good luck for that one!

Yeah, I'm also feeling a bit on the pessimistic side and have been actively looking for a rejection letter to arrive in the mail ever since I started reading this thread. haha Obviously I'd rather get an interview and get in, but with so much talk of hardly any spaces left and rejection letters being sent out it's easier to just think a letter's in the mail.

It looks like I will be needing a suit and tie in the next 5 days. I was so elated when I was informed that I had an interview. I ran up and down the halls of my workplace, barging into every one of my co-worker's doors. I cannot wait to meet some of the SDN members of this thread on Monday. Have a happy independence day.

There was one predent at the interview yesterday, but unfortunately they will not be interviewing any more. They said they are finalizing their class from the last interview group yesterday.

Unfortunately I have just received my rejection letter from Temple.
After reading posts of the people that did get accepted to the program, I am confused about the admissions committee thought process on choosing applicants for the ACMS. First off, I understand that this is a competitive program, however, lets not forget that it is a POST BACCALAUREATE program. Why on earth are people applying to this program with 3.8 GPAs? To my understanding this is for people that are trying to enhance their academic standing, so it seems useless because the program defeats its purpose, to serve students with borderline GPA's.😕
Maybe I am just bitter, but I feel my point in somewhat valid. For instance, I have applied to jobs and have received rejection letters stating that I am "too qualified for the job"...
Any thoughts?

I do understand what you are sayin.I'm in same boat as you are. I didn't apply to this program this because they told me i have low gpa. well, , If i didn't have low gpa, then i would''ve been in dental school. so, that's why i'm doing my master to boost up my gpa and try there.

No, I did not get an interview at Temple. However, I completed an interview at University of Pennsylvania for Special Science Program.
In light of my situation, I have been debating on a Post Baccalaureate program or a MS program, which is better to pursue? I am becoming more confident in my answer, and I feel that the MS is a more productive route because it gives a sense of accomplishment and completeness.

well i'm doing MS right now. trying to get into dental school but the way it's going, it's getting hard and hard. so I don't know.

I didn't get the email, but I got someone else to forward it to me. It doesn't have much info in it. I am going to be in Philly tomorrow looking for apartments and plan to stop by the office to give them my deposit. I'll ask then.
