Temple seems to have an admissions process I'm not familiar with. Apparently they don't do outright admissions to their school?

I received a letter today that states: "We are pleased to inform you that the Admissions committee has found your application to be impressive and has placed you on the CONTINUING CANDIDATES list. All candidates presented to the Admissions Committee are placed in 1 of 2 categories: CONTINUING candidates or REJECTED candidates. Each month, a limited number of acceptances will be offered from the continuing candidates list" ...... "Congratulations on your placement on the continuing candidates list"

Anyone out there who can explain this? Sounds like a hybrid accept/wait list?? Anyone who has been accepted to Temple this year who can explain it to me more clearly??

Thanks to everyone for putting up w/ my frequent Temple submissions, just really want to go there..........

at least you got an interview.... i'm still waiting to hear from them...

you should do a search for more info
i remember last summer there being a long-a$$ thread about people on the temple cc list (i'm pretty sure the thread title abbreviated it as cc)
anyway, if you read about it, maybe you'll get a better sense of how many and how often people were accepted from the list.

good luck!

I got that a few months ago. I mentioned in a previous thread that I am an out of stater and my interviewer told me to expect this result since I interviewed VERY early (like the second day or soemthing) are you out of state? I think it means that it is a waitlist for out of state people, once they admit a fair share of PA peopel they will look at us again. PS, I got that letter over 2 months ago, don't hold your breath for new news.

no, I'm in-state but didn't interview until mid-November......

I still got the same letter as you did. It looks to me like everyone gets put on the CC list if they aren't rejected & the CC serves as both the waitlist and springboard for admission?

well my continued candidate letter included a blurb about preference for in staters so our letters were a bit different then. I really don't know how they do it. I am assuming i am on a waitlist.

My interviewer said, 'based on your credentials you will not be rejected but since you are out of state, and frankly I am shocked to see an out of stater here so early, you will be waitlisted." and then i got that letter (dont you love how they say congratulations! wtf) anyway, there were other out of state people there that day so I really didn't understand their system and why he was so 'shocked' but I dont think you are on the same list as me.

I was called an alternate at another school, no one wants to say waitlist these days...

yeah, i'm an out-of-stater, and i got the same exact letter as bridgie. my interviewer said the same thing to me, as did one of the admissions deans who spoke to us as a group. but as far as i know, almost everyone, even in-staters get put on the CC list (i'm sure some must get in right away), and they accept people from that list. but johnhopeful, since you are an in-stater, you can probably expect to hear about getting off the CC list before any of us do, since they fill the in-state portion of the class first.

Do a search for last year's thread about the Temple CCL, it's very informative.

I don't mean to make you guys feel bad, but I was on the CCL there last year and did not get in, but things might be different this year. Good luck!

I am in state and received an outright acceptance to Temple last year (was in the same interview group as Solid Gold). Temple does make outright acceptances.

ussdfiant, how's Temple been so far? You just reminded me to mention that I am out of state, and they generally put most people on the CCL who are from out of state. Once they finish interviewing, they either accept people off the CCL or they waitlist them. I think the letter says they accept people off the CCL periodically, but that did not seem to happen last year. But there was also a problem last year because they "over subscribed" the class and did not even get to the waitlist last year. All that's detailed in the thread from last year. If I find it I'll post a link to it here.

I interviewed in November and was accepted a few weeks later, but I'm a state resident. I've heard that they take a few people off the CC list each month, but I bet that the majority hear after May 15th. If you are a state resident and you are put on CC, I would call and make sure that they are aware that you are a state resisdent.

i'm in state but have yet to get an interview.
for temple, would this be considered a "no chance in getting in this year"?

i sent in my secondary late oct. august mcat score.

any of you who interviewed and got CC'd or in in the late pool of applicants?

i am out of state. my app was complete early (although they first screen amcas in order to invite for interviews) interviewed mid november and was put on the list early Dec.... the letter said that oos people would be taken out of the list during the spring...to make up ~40% class. so i was just wondering.
