Temple vs UMDNJ

Hi everyone,

I've been accepted to Temple and UMDNJ for dental school and am having a really hard time deciding where I want to go. I wanted to ask any current Temple and UMDNJ students what their opinions about their schools are. What they like and don't like... etc...

I'm from NJ so the tuition at UMDNJ would be really cheap compared to Temple. But I kind of remember the preclinic and some of the things being a little on the older side. Has this affected anyone's work? I also really hate Newark, but then again maybe this is something I will adapt and get used to? I also liked UMDNJ bc its closer to home.

Temple is really pricey but I liked the feel of the place. Everything I saw was in pretty good condition and then the clinic is being renovated and will be brand new by the time my class gets there. The immediate surrounding area isn't so great, but I liked downtown Philly.

I know I should be able to get great clinical experience at both schools, but perhaps maybe more so at Temple?

I just finished my first semester at Temple, and I really like it here. However, you should probably attend the cheaper one (unless someone else is paying for it). Good luck on your decision...

I said some things about UMDNJ in this forum you should def. do your own research regarding them. http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=779669&highlight=case+vs.+umdnj

regarding the dentists they produce so far everything has been good. I have not seen any articles about dentists who graduate from these schools who are incompetent clinically.

I would pick UMDNJ in a heartbeat. I interviewed there this month and it has always been my top choice. If you are still unsure then it might be beneficial to visit both schools again and spend some more time talking to the students.

If you do pick Temple, please tell them to give your seat to Alegna86 😀
