Anybody think about whether test prep companies lobby for what material is put on the step exams? Think about it- Kaplan, for example, is a pretty huge company with quite a bit of money... it certainly would suit their cause to perhaps make a financial "contribution" to the NBME (or whomever) to ensure that the material they teach does in fact show up on the actual exam... All of a sudden, they have a ton of great PR, word of mouth, etc. about how successful their students are on the exam.

I, for one, am a little suspicious... :naughty:

Why pay the test company untold sums to bribe them when you could just ask former students to supply free tips about what was on the exam, and then teach that next year?

What *was* on the exam is old news... ride the wave of the future.

Remember the central premise of a conspiracy theory: multiple people can keep a secret for an extended amount of time.

I think not. 🙄

I don't see it... NBME has too much to lose. If they needed to raise more money they could just raise the test fees even more, we are a captive audience, we HAVE to take their tests they can basically charge whatever they want.
