does anyone know if you need to take the naplex and mpje in the state that you are testing for licensure? or can the tests be taken anywhere?

You should ask NABP, but i think it's specific to your state. Since some states have their own respective law exams. I think once you take the tests, you can transfer the scores to other states.

You can take the test anywhere. These are done on the computer - the testing site just loads that state's exam. When I was accepted to residency in a state different from my current license, I had no issues signing up and taking it in a different state. It might only make a difference if the state is a non-MPJE state. Not sure how those states handle law exams.
