whats the difference b/w tetanus and tonus

tetanus is a position where an enzyme (also skeletal muscle when max myosin and actin bonding)reaches its max saturation... dont know about the other

whats the difference b/w tetanus and tonus

tonus is a continuous state of partial contraction in skeletal muscles. skeletal muscles are never completely not contracted - they are in tonus

tetanus is the summation of lots of little contractions that makes up a larger contraction in skeletal muscles. fyi: don't eat rust...you might get tetanus. ex: lockjaw

As the others have said, Tonus means the muscle is constantly in a state of partial contraction, and is never fully relaxed. Tetanus on the other hand is the summation of many action potentials that stimulate the muscle. After a certain poing of maximum summation, the muscle enters a period of fatigue, and can not be stimulated during this time. Hope that helps.
