Texas A&M Accepted for Class of 2013

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Oh and one more thing...I may be one of the only old guys (is 27 old?), so this may not apply to anyone else. But, if you have young children who will need daycare next year, you need to start calling places NOW. These places typically have waitlists and the good ones can be tough to get into. I am in the process of this and was blown away at how many people are on a waitlist for the fall already.

Just remember that it is not unlike med school - people will be on MULTIPLE wait lists until the last minute! I'm so glad I'm past that stage!!🙂 and 27 is NOT old - it's probably the average for our Temple class. May even be on the young side.

Really? I felt as though I would be the grandpa of the group. And good point about daycare waitlists...you have to be on multiple lists to have a chance.

We have one at 42, me at 40, one at 37, 3 or 4 in the 32-33 range, and probably a cluster around 28. Nope, you won't be the grandpa!

hey i fall into the 27+ group 🙁 *grabs my cane*

First day of orientation is July 27th. First day of class is the next Monday.

Also, the first year curriculum is being overhauled and the structure will be very different. The amount of class time and lectures received will be the same, but everything will be taught in a more integrated fashion (i.e. anatomy, biochem, histo, phys, neuro will all be taught simultaneously in organ system blocks). I don't have anymore details, but believe me when I say this is for the better. Exciting times!

I also heard that the current incoming class stands at 150 students - 100 in CS and 50 for Temple. Depending on the legislature and budget, they may admit 20 more.

oh interesting. i remember the email they sent back in february saying how they were currently at 156 students. this could either be good or bad news for those on the waitlist.

Hey, how many students per tank in Gross Anatomy Lab in CS/Temple?

Hey, how many students per tank in Gross Anatomy Lab in CS/Temple?

They work in a rotation system - we have 6 people assigned to a tank, but for most labs, only 4 come. The 2 who are not there are "taught" by the 4 who were, and are the ones quizzed on the info. Both campuses are the same, and you get to choose your tankmates and partners, and can change after the first test.

Does anyone know about any summer jobs in CS or Temple? I was going to do research over the summer as a non-student employee at my University, but the University has instigated a hiring freeze (always thought academia would protect me from the bad economy) and so that plan has been axed.

Anyway, I am trying to find a temporary job for the summer. Any ideas?

Hey, funny thing happened today. I met my wife for lunch and she asked me "do you want the bad news now or after we eat." I said "give me the bad news now." So she handed me an envelope from Temple University, said "I'm really sorry", and went to the bathroom. I was like "What gives, a rejection letter from a school I really didn't want to go to in the first place? How is that bad news?" My wife comes back, and I can tell she is really upset. I am clueless. She goes on and on asking how this happened and if it was a mistake. I ask her "What college do you think this is?" She said "A&M Temple right?". She thought I was getting a rejection letter from a school I had already been accepted to. I explained it to her and she almost passed out. Classic.

It probably didn't help that Temple's school color is crimson. That is pretty great.

All four in Temple. First choice. Married with a brand new baby.

Time for my sales pitch:

For those of you who will be in Temple this year, consider living at the Bridge apartment complex. It is not even a mile on the access road away from the medical school (my door to door time is roughly 9 minutes). I pay $610 for a nice 2 Bed/1 Bath. The area is pretty quiet and conveniently next door (literally!) to the Summit exercise facility.

Let me know if you want more info.

The M1's have been preparing information for you guys (at least in Temple). You should get it pretty soon. I bought a house, and we didn't start looking until April.

sweet. thanks for the info!🙂

If any guys are looking to room with someone else, i'm thinking of buying a house abt 2-4 miles from the campus. If interested, PM me.

I am married with children and we are looking for a 3 br apartment, house, or condo to rent. We live in Utah, so we are unable to look the old fashioned way. Does anyone know of a good resource for rental properties in Temple?

Temple for all 4! First choice. And I'm married with a 3 year old. We're planning on buying a house, of course we're waiting for our house to sell in Fort Worth. Any recommendations for family-friendly neighborhoods?

Echo Station/Village is popular, so is Springwood Creek, there are some nice areas off Canyon Creek as well.

It's nice and very safe. My wife gets up early/goes out late to work out at the Summit (all of a 30 second walk, literally) and never has problems. You're also about 1/4 of a mile down the access road from Scott & White. Please let me know if you seriously consider signing here.
