Well, despite me sending them a request to withdraw my application, I was still admitted to the program. I will be declining. Hope this helps somone 🙂

Gosh....they must like you very much, hoping that you would change your mind....😎

I'd be happy for my comments to be read (not blogs - I never blogged)

Wow... this thing got taken over by trolls fast 🙁

I think he was most referencing me, and my 'Kingsville said there would be approximately 100 interviewed and 70 accepted' thing. Though, I wouldn't call rescinding an offer over negative comments professionalism. And, I would also interpret his statements to be negative of the school.

I can only hope I didn't get an offer because someone read my "bad" forum posts. 😀

I have a dilemma here, since i didn't get an e-mail today. I don't know what to do for next semester. I got accepted into nursing school. I don't know i should go to nursing school or have a easier major (Nutrition), and apply again next year. Anyone has any thought about being a nurse or dietitian? I know this is a little off topic. any feedback will be very appreciated. Thanks.

Didn't you apply to TSU?
Wait for it....you might get in for that one.😉

Which would you rather be? A nurse or a pharmacist?
Go with what you'd like most to be, regardless of time.

Kiki, I hope you don't mind I just PM you.

TAMHSCILRCOP interviewed 280 people. If you called it "Kingsville" or any derivative thereof during the interview, they probably wrote that down because it's not the name of the school. 🙁 Sorry...but I wouldn't expect that to be a deal breaker.

Are you sure that you are sure? You were considering nursing and nutrition a few posts back.

Those are good back ups. that's really good that you have a Plan B and even a Plan C. But if you are really that devoted to pharmacy, then stick with that. Yea its good that you got into nursing and all, but that's not really what you want to do. I saw try again next year with pharmacy. Get some pharmacy experience if you don't have any. Possibly get a degree if you'll finish it up by the end of next year. And most importantly, evaluate yourself and see where you can improve (esp. when it comes down to the interview process).

EDIT: Okay so seems like you have another interivew. Didn't know that. PM me if you have any questions!!

I am 100% sure that I am sure i want to be a pharmacist. i have finished all my classes for pre-pharmacy, and I don't have a degree yet. I need to stay at school, and apply again next year, so I need a major.

Pick Nutrition.

Pick Nutrition.

Why do you think Nutrition is better than Nursing? I am more concern which major can help me more to get into pharmacy school. I am not sure if this is true, if i major in nutrition, it will help me understand more food-drug interaction. that looks better on my application? and since food and drug can never be separated. in the other way, nursing can teach me how to interact with patients.

So were ALL the acceptance email out already? anyone who didn't get one become waitlisted? (asking for my friend)

If you do nursing and then pharmacy, you might get asked why you changed your mind about nursing (since it is an intense program that makes you a health care professional). Nutrition would be a better path to pharmacy, in my opinion.

If you pick nursing, it will look like you are wavering in your decision to go to pharmacy school. The number 1 disease in SOUTH TEXAS is Diabetes II, which is nutrition related. Bring that up in your interview and it will make you look good.

I was just wondering, how long do they give you to accept/decline their invitation to the school.

Hopefully I'm not at the very bottom of the waitlist.

It's hard to keep up the GPA for nursing. My sister is now at UT nursing school in Houston and studying her a** off to maintain her GPA. Nutrition major is easier so you can have extra time to improve your PCAT or participate more in community services.

We have two weeks. I'm going to have to hustle some games of pool for the cash.

All of you guys are great!!! Thank you for all the great opinions. one more question, how you guys prepare for interviews? Do you practice everything you want to say before the interview?

I am still hoping they didn't finish sending out acceptances first round yet... 🙁 i've been woking my *** off since i was in middle school and i hate this.. i really really really want to get in!!!!

I agree with Knickerbocker. 🙂
If you're 100% for pharmacy, I'd go with Nutrition.

My interviewers didn't write anything down, not during the interview.

You wouldn't expect what to be a deal breaker?

Parclesian, this guy is a troll. I seriously have doubts that he is indeed actually a P1 at A&M.

Yes, just got it.

Congrats, Knick!!! I'm so glad to hear you've been accepted. There's been a lot of us pulling for you.

I know you hate the bananas but...

:banana::banana::banana:!!!

Edit: By the way, I wouldn't be surprised if you still get accepted someplace that you've been waitlisted (Tech for instance).

Sorry, man. I guess I have a weakness for these sort of guys. I'll try not to agitate him, and hope he just goes away.

It'd be sad if he was. lol

hey guys, congrats on the newly accepted! I'll actually decline Texas A&M offer ... no offense and don't want to stir up the whole UT vs. TAMU dispute , but UT was my first choice, although A&M will surely be a great school in the years to come.

Good luck, one spot will be opened for who didn't get in this time...

Thanks! Yeah, I still have a shot at Tech. If they do accept me, I don't know if I'll go or not.

Hello Everyone,

I have been reading everyone's postings to keep up to date with news, but I never had the guts to sign up. I am not much of a online person unless I have to be, but, by the grace of God, I will be joining some of you at Kingsville, so I thought I'd say hello.

Also, I got into Texas Tech, and I wanted to ask why some are choosing Texas Tech over Kingsville? I'm just interested in hearing other people's opinion.

Anyways, congrads to everyone, and God bless.

How about a Nurse Anesthegist? I hear their profession is very challenging (in a good way) and has many rewards (even more than pharmacist i hear). Although I also hear its really tough to get into... you'd have to get your BSN (2-4 year) first, work in ICU for at LEAST 1 year (perferrably 2 years) THEN apply and pray to get into the AA program which is probably another 3 years. Once you're out, all you'll be doing is sedating ppl on beds for procedures!

Ummm... Correct me if i'm wrong on any of those points there.

Congrats and welcome aboard...

thank you thank you!!

i cant wait to meet you all and figure out who everyone is! lol

we are going to have a GREAT class..i can feel it!!😀

Like perfectly? If I get any Bs, my GPA will come down. I have a course left in which I'm sitting on a B right now. Do you think they'll give me any trouble for that?

dude, your admission depends on you completing the pre-req classes with a C or better. you are IN, no matter what, unless you get a D or lower or dont finish the pre-req classes. so DONT worry! and congrats to you fellow classmate!:hardy:

Either I had a wonderful dream that I was accepted to A&M, or....

Can someone confirm that I am not suffering some kind of delirium??

Anyone??

😳

Man, that would be a really hard choice. I screwed up my A&M application by not having all my transcripts together at the right time, and I really regret that. There is something very positive to be said about graduating from A&M and it will be with you for the rest of your life. I don't think you can go wrong at either school.

hey guys, i need some advice.

i didnt get into A&M and i thought i was a competitive candidate.
i have a 3.15 GPA, and a 83 PCAT score. I thought i did pretty well in the interview so i thought i would probably get in, but i didnt. so what do i do now? complete my bachelors? reapply next year? i have no clue what to do. As of now i am finishin up the second semester of my sophomore year.

im also curious as to what the other people who didnt get in plan to do in the future.

im praying for a few people to decline and open a few spots, but im not goin to get my hopes up

I'd work towards my bachelors, and probably work on retaking whatever is keeping your GPA down, 3.15 is kinda low. Your PCAT seems ok, unless you have 90s in reading and 50s in the sciences. I know I was joking around some about your age, but seriously it could have been a partial factor (I doubt it was the only reason). You said something earlier I believe about not having pharmacy experience... become a tech and work in a pharmacy. Or do a lot of shadowing in different areas of pharmacy, that seems to me to be a definite must.

For those that got accepted, congratulations! Can you guys post your stats (GPA, PCAT score)?

3.85 ish, 99, work as a tech during summer and christmas breaks 30-35 hrs / week.

I just called in to ask my ranking in the waitlist. Sam said only the Dean has the ranking, and he will not disclose that information. From past experience, there will be about 1/3 of people declined their acceptances, so there will be about 30 seats open for people in the waitlist. There is nothing we can do right now, just wait. KEEP MY FINGERS CROSSED.

3.96, 99 PCAT, certified pharm tech, very little pharm experience but my mom's a pharmacist.

well, people posted their stat here is either close to perfect GPA, or perfect PCAT, or both. There are a lot more people who don't have this kind of grade get in.
