Hello everyone, I posted a similar thread under a different form but thought this section to be more appropriate. I just got my MCAT scores after taking it a second time and they aren't so good.

Run One (6/2016): 126, 124, 125, 124
Run Two (1/2017): 127, 122, 126, 126

Reading was my main issue on the MCAT as you can probably tell, maybe due to English being my second language (been in the US for about 12 years).

As far as the other things, I am a senior biomedical engineering major in one of the better schools in Texas with 3.53 GPA (not sure what science GPA is but probably similar). I am an EMT with a year and a hath work experience. My shadowing is on the lower end of things with 20 hours in a primary care physician office and about 20 more over seas during a shadowing program.

As far as volunteering goes, I have around 200 hours medical related volunteering (similar to EMT type work) and about a 100 more non medical. I was also an officer in a medical related organization and also taught classes with the same organization.

I have also participated in research for almost 2 years in two different labs. There was one publication and one poster presentation envolved so far.

So what do you guys think my chances are, in state as well as out of state? I am already a senior and would not like to take a second gap year. I could theoretically take the MCAT again in two months before the applications open for 2018 and probably score a bit better, but then again that's not guaranteed. Any suggestions for me are greatly appreciated! Thank You in advance! 🙂

Your chances are low for a MD admission but you could try your Texas MD schools. You are competitive for some DO schools such as:
UIWSOM
ACOM
ARCOM
BCOM
WCU-COM
LMU-DCOM
UP-KYCOM
WVSOM
VCOM (all 3 schools)
RVU-Utah
NYIT (Arkansas)
any new schools that open in 2018. You may need a DO LOR for some schools.
