OK, forgive me for this, but here is my situation.

I have recently been offered a position in West Texas with a retail chain upon graduating (may 2014). To make a long story short, I am an out-of-state soon to be graduate and was offered the position on April 17th, 2014.

After receiving my offer, I accepted and promptly went to the Texas BOP website and completed this application:

Pharmacist Student Intern Application and Forms- for a student currently enrolled in an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education approved College of Pharmacy program.

Granted, I'am currently enrolled in my pharmacy school, I will be graduating on May 10th, 2014. So, I applied online for an intern application for a student currently enrolled in an ACPE accredited school (I did not currently have a Texas Intern License prior to my offer, thus having to apply for one now).

Once I completed the online application, I was quickly emailed FAST form (fingerprinting form) for the state of Texas. Being that I'am out of state, I asked for fingerprint cards (and was assured they were sent out and will receive them by tomorrow: 4/24/14).

Everything else will be at the TBOP by Monday, April 28, 2014. These things include my:
1) completed online application
2) copy of my social security card
3) confirmation page, etc......

My question is, will this be enough to get by to obtain a "pharmacy intern license" for the state of Texas prior to me graduating. Is it true that for the state of Texas that once you graduate, you need to do the "extended pharmacy intern" application? If yes, does it matter at all that all of my stuff will be submitted prior to my graduation date? The fact that I will have all of MY STUFF submitted before I graduate, will I be covered under this application type?? On the flip side, there is an "extended grad intern" application, but I will have enough intern hours through school and I am NOT a foreign graduate.

Can anyone offer me any help in this situation??? MY question really is, Am I OK to this point on my end to be able to receive a pharmacy intern license without having to go through an extended grad intern application, of which my regional manager said takes months to complete all the paperwork.

ANY HELP??

Thanks in advance

The Pharmacy Student Intern license you applied for will allow you to work as a grad-intern for your company.
You still need to apply to the state for your pharmacist license.
The extended pharmacy intern is for people that want to extend their student intern license (Passed the MPJE and Naplex but not internship hour requirement OR Graduated and applied for MPJE and Naplex within 3 months OR License has been expired between 2 and 10 years, passed MPJE, but lack internship hours.) - you don't need to do this.

The TSBP tells students to submit their paperwork prior to graduation b/c it expedites the process, so it's fine that you did this. Honestly, your situation is a little complex. Give them a call or email them. They are very nice and will explain what you need to do.

Also, a lot of the Texas pharmacy laws were recently changed, so get the 2014 edition of Cacciatore's pharmacy law guide to study. You may be able to find it online. If not you can get it through the Texas Pharmacy Association.

I'm in the exact same situation as you: out-of-state going to TX; how did you ask them for fingerprinting cards? Did you have to call them? Did you still have to do anything with their contract L1 background checking org?

One thing that I was concerned with during the online application process was that it never asked for evidence of completing the 1500 hours. I was thinking my school or employer would have had to send them something, but were you fine without all of that?

Also, just out of curiosity how long did it take to receive your authorization-to-test?
