Texas,Dallas area premedical program

Hello All,

Very glad to find this forum, I am a newbie here, wondering if anyone happen to have any recommendation about pre-medical programs in Dallas area? I am a full-time engineer attempting to change my career. Where I can find a good pre-medical program with night courses schedule?

Also is anybody in Dallas area? I would like to contact with you if you wish.

I am not yet living in Dallas, but hope to move out there in June/July. I have looked into their programs and found the following helpful website:

I know there are great opportunities in Texas, and the cost of a public education is MUCH less than it is here on the East Coast, which is only one of the reasons my husband and I are seriously considering the move to Texas. The warm, snow-free weather was an additional plus 🙂

I would call UTD directly to find out more information. Everyone's situation is different, so it would be best to find out what your best options are by contacting them directly.

I did my post bacc stuff at UTD. Its a great school. I had a degree in film and went into a masters of aesthetic studies. (no reason for me to do the traditional post bacc thing)

They have a great premed program (although they try and sucker people into believing you have to take thier incredibly weedy biochem and genetics) and kind of down play thier incredible physio/immuno/other classes. the chem department is great (for ochem and gchem) and you can get a great premed education there. Thier sciences are very well respected. the new gym is phenominal as well (it was a crap hole years ago)

Its in north dallas but is easy to get to. they also have some cool nuero stuff if you like that stuff.

I checked into UTA and UTD. I live in Dallas and UTD is only 15 minutes from my house. The problem I found at UTD was their limited schedule. The first semester of General Physics is not even offered this spring. Some of the other premed classes are only offered at one time and I did not notice much in the way of night classes. So, I'll end up driving more to get to UTA just because they offer the same classes in more time slots.

Yes,my biggest concern is the course schedule. I am only available at nights.
Did anyone ever try the community colleges, maybe they have more flexiable schedule?

there is nothing wrong with taking one or two courses through a community college but I wouldn't take the vast majority of them. (I took calculus and first semester of bio) but the vast majority of my prerecs came from a university.

UTD is very well respected as its known in texas that its classes are not slacker friendly.

I don't know what its scedule is like anymore but its definately well worth the time. Youmight try SMU as well. its more expensive but they might have more classes.
