Hi! I would lovee some input on schools to apply to if any of y'all would be so kind. My application has been done forever but I just can't quite figure out where would be best to apply! 😕

My stats:

  • Texas resident
  • DAT: 21AA/20TS/19PAT
  • cGPA: 3.35
  • sGPA: 3.35
  • Dental-related experience: 440 hours
  • Research: none
  • Non-dental related community service: 690 hours
  • Leadership: fair amount, hard to quantify
  • Applied once before, last cycle (only got one interview) 🙁
Schools I think I want to apply to so far:

  1. Texas schools, of course (Houston, SA, Baylor)
  2. Boston
  3. Western
  4. Midwestern AZ
  5. Roseman
  6. Tufts
  7. LECOM
  8. Temple
  9. Roseman
Schools I've seen other people mention here on these boards and so am considering, but not sure of the merits/wisdom in doing so (advice, maybe?):

  • NYU
  • ASDOH
  • MOSDOH
  • Midwestern IL
  • Louisville
  • Pittsburgh
  • VCU
  • Creighton
  • Detroit Mercy
Any and all help would be eternally appreciated! 😍

I would take out Western. I don't think it's too OOS friendly and cali schools aren't worth it IMO unless you live on the west coast. LECOM would also be on the fence about. Just my thoughts.

NYU - Only apply here if you really would go if acceptance. Make sure you're okay with the pricetag, living expenses, living in NY, etc.
ASDOH - Definitely add to your list
MOSDOH - Might be regional only. I wouldn't apply.
Midwestern IL - Definitely add to your list.
Louisville - Add
Pittsburgh - Add
VCU - Add
Creighton - Kinda regional, add if you want.
Detroit Mercy - Don't add, not OOS friendly

Please come to Midwestern AZ 😉 LOL

I'm guessing you're a student there? Then again, judging from your previous posts, I'm not quite sure if you're just trolling. 😛

But let's say you are a student, how do you like your experience so far? 🙂

AwesomeTeeth, I have been on SDN for all of about one day and you are already my favorite poster. I was hoping you would comment! Thanks for the input!

haha I am not trolling some of my posts are actually very informative.. The quirky posts that you see are a result of my boredom at work! 🙂 I am going to be a student there starting in August. Midwestern AZ has the nicest facilities I have ever seen in a dental school they spend a ton of money to make sure they have the best of the best..

Haha.. No harm in that. Keep us posted on your experience! 🙂

Will do! I went on 7 interviews and I enjoyed Midwestern the most, they treat you like a colleague from day 1, I believe they have the largest dental clinic in the USA, the clinic is run like a private practice you have your own dental assistant in clinic..and they book your chairs for you!

Sounds like a dream. But I would hope that they're putting that $70k/yr tuition to good use. 😛

your lucky texas schools cost like 5$ a semester =) and tuition is only 55k a year 😛

Quoted from the Midwestern AZ site, academic year 2012-2013:
College of Dental Medicine $59,272 (Tuition)
$10,414 (Fees)

"Fees" might as well be lumped in with tuition. Not like you can use it for housing. 😛

Baylor and San Antonio should shine on that many volunteering hours. Good luck.👍

If you have taken any of the prereqs at a community college and you are applying to BU or Tufts then take cancel these schools. On their website and even from past SDNers they will not even look at you if youve got Community College prereqs at all. They just take your money supposedly

These were my top two for the longest time and then i took em off.

Btw Where did you get an interview last year?

I would put Western on the list. I am a GA resident who was accepted there.
