Same here! I was sleeping at the time and was still trying to regain enough consciousness to speak coherently into the phone haha. Scheduled for the 7th at TCOM.
 
You know what's weird when you've been on SDN long enough, you know when certain things will appear in your mailbox regarding med school apps. Like this week, my app was processed, so I knew that today (Friday) when I woke up, UTSW would send me an e-mail saying they received my app. First thing I see when I open up my inbox? "Application Received". :laugh:

My "spider sense" says I might even get a UTMB invite on Tuesday for August 31 if I'm a good boy! It'll be scary if it's true. :laugh:

The 29 was a JAMP student. The 23's were not. They were in no special programs.
 
my LMFU just changed to 7/20....hopefully that means something good
 
sorry i'm kinda new at this... but where on your status do you find the date submitted & date verified? and i sent in updates to my apps a couple of weeks ago...does that mean i'm going to get an interview after all the ppl who have submitted their apps after mine but before my updates?

then click Status of Application... and there is a section that has "important dates" for when your stuff was received and processed.

I submitted my app before some of these people who have already gotten interviews, so I'm not so sure that the day you send in your app really correlates to being the first to interview.

my LMFU changed to 7/19. my school still hasn't sent out rec letters, and i haven't heard anything about interviews from schools. it's possible that my school sent out the letters, but just didn't notify me.
 
Well, my 7/19 isn't from stuff being sent out by TMDSAS...everything I have was sent a while ago (including letters)...still hopin' it's UTH.
 
Hey, do ya'll think it would be okay for me to call and check on a letter thats going seperately? I had two stand alone letters apart from the committee one, and TMDSAS only forwards one so I want to check and make sure the schools recd the other. Do you think that's fine, or not recommended since TMDSAS is the central? I'm just worried since UTSW sends you a confirmation email, but the other schools don't.


PS: UTMB and UTSA don't send receipt emails, right? Or am i the only one. okay now i'm just freaking out at all the possibilities :scared:

PPS: My LMFU changed too. I'm hoping it's receipt of LORs or something, cause thats all that'll make me happy.

Uhh.. you should use the status page to see if TMDSAS received the letter. That info is on there for you to see. Don't call the schools individually, that's bordering paranoia.

Mine changed to 7/19 as well. What could it be? Methinks it's UTSW or UTH, because Tech and A&M interviews didn't seem to prompt LMFU's.

Or, as was said earlier, maybe it's al-Qaeda.

Well, TMDSAS isn't recieving this letter. TMDSAS will only forward one addtl letter and this is a second one, I had previously asked the schools if its okay to send additional letters to the school and I was encouraged to do that, so the TMDSAS status won't show anything abt this second letter.


So we don't recieve any confirmation from any other school except southwestern? That they've recd our application, that is? Shouldn't they, though, since there's a long line of bureaucracy from TMDSAS to the university....
 
Ok sorry to be dumb but when yall say "verification date," what does that mean? I see the LMFU on the applicant profile page but I wasn't sure what verification was. Also, if TMDSAS received my rec letters on Tuesday when do yall think they will send them to the schools and is there anyway I can check if it's been sent? Thanks so much!!

verification date is the date they checked your transcripts against your application and sent it out to schools.

Congrats to those with interviews and good luck to everyone! I just wanted to see what you guys think about my chances at interviews/admissions for Texas MD schools.
Biology major from UT Austin, 3.74 overall GPA, 3.67 science GPA, 28P MCAT (9 PS & BS, 10 VR)
Strong extracurriculars (leadership, medical experience, started a non-profit with friends, research publication, personal statement, etc.) - at least by my own judgement
Submitted TMDSAS in early June, but MCAT came in July 1st week. Everything (including secondaries) submitted as of July 10.
Any input/opinions are appreciated. Thanks again!

Validation is like a double-check of your application usually before a school extends an offer of admission.

Welcome! 😀 You should be fine getting interviews...make sure you really NAIL them though. Your MCAT might hold you back a little. If this was 2 years ago I would say it would be fine...but last year's new admissions concept really screwed us good applicants over. I honestly thought after 4 great interviews at the UT schools last cycle that I would have gotten just 1 acceptance...but I've got nothing. Don't want to scare you...but I won't say it's going to be easy with 4000+ apps and only ~1200 spots. BEST OF LUCK!!!! :luck:

Sorry man, my "spider sense" only sees things that are moving. Right now, all acceptances are standing very still in teh future. :laugh:

Diana, did you ever get a chance to talk to any admins and find out what the possible reasons might have been? I know there's not always a concrete reason, but it would be great if it was something that was easily fixable...bum letter of recommendation or the like. I'm really hoping for the best for you this year! I may be saying this to myself this time next year, but from previous experiences I've learned that the really big disappointments are incredibly sweet when you get it the next time around. May you have a fantastic year, with a great ending. 🙂

Aw, thanks!! I'm really rooting for you as well. 😀 Yes, I did have a meeting with Dr. Kellaway down at UTH in May. She basically said my application is good and there isn't much more I should do...maybe add a few clinical hours here and there. It's just that there were over 4000 applications and they can only take a small number of those...just a lot of really great applicants last year and, I would assume, this year as well. It was nice to hear that nothing was blatantly wrong with my app though! 😉 Just have to try again...

Roughly 60 I hear.
 
ummm there are usually a lot. TCOM has VERY few, like 7 max. UTHSCSA had a lot, probably 80 or so, UTSW is supposed to have about that many (my interview day was smaller because it was later),UTMB had the same. Tech and A&M had 40 to 60. And I think UTH had about 60.

That is my best educated guess 🙂

according to the other peoples' stats who have gotten interviews, you should be sitting pretty. the schools seem to be more concerned with a good GPA than outstanding MCAT.
 
Good luck to all of you! A&M is an awesome med school. When I went for my interview, there were only about 20 people. There may have been people in another room that I didn't see. All the interviewers and everyone I met were very easy to talk to...not intimidating.

EDIT: Oh, and this is totally off topic...but I was really excited to get invited to complete VCU's secondary! Woohoo!! (they screen apparently, so I was nervous, lol)

I had a 7/19 LMFU change last week...it was an extra letter recd 7/18. I'm glad it was recd, but just not the news I would have liked 🙁

My 7/19 LMFU seems to have been the letter I got in my mailbox on 7/21 inviting me to interview at UTHSCSA on 8/20.🙂
