Hi, as the title reads: I'm a Texas Resident. While I am hoping to remain in the great state of Texas for medical school, I was granted FAP (Fee Assistance Program) through AMCAS which includes submitting a free application to up to 20 schools. Because of this, I am planning on applying to out of state schools in addition to Texas schools because why not if it's free? My question is: Can I just use my AMCAS application to apply to Texas (& out of state schools) or do I need to submit a TMDSAS application for Texas schools and then the AMCAS for out of state? Really hoping to just consolidate everything to the AMCAS but I'm not sure how this will work for Texas since I'm a resident.

You can't apply for Texas schools via AMCAS, so you will have to do a TMDSAS.

There are 8 Texas schools that I can select on the AMCAS application. Is it just that I can't apply to them with AMCAS because I'm a Texas resident?

No. AMCAS and TMDSAS are 2 different systems. Anyone who wants to apply to Texas schools has to use TMDSAS.

This is for MD/PhD or MSTP programs.

You must apply with TMDSAS if you apply to only the MD/DO Texas programs.

. . . and for Baylor, which is a private school. TMDSAS is for Texas public schools.
