i just called - they have the alternate pool ready. they said they sent out letters on thursday that we should be receiving shortly. inside is a form we have to fill out that pretty much says we want to stay in the alternate pool along with a contact information update.

as far as i can tell there's no info about your position...but every school may be different

I got letters in the past few days.

I'm not sure if San Antonio ranks...but whether they do or not I've sent an updated transcript and will be working on a letter of interest this weekend. Who knows? It be more paper into the file or it might be enough to push me over.

Okay, this is really bizarre. I ranked Tech Number 1, matched with them and today I receive a letter from UTMB saying that I am on their waitlist. I did interview there but ranked them #2. Has this happened to any one else? According to the letter, they do not have a ranked list, only a pool of applicants. It also states that last year they offered 9 applicants spots and the year before that they didn't offer any. I live in Dallas so, if any of you live closer and are hoping to get a letter, I hate to bust your bubble. I will call them tomorrow to make sure they take my name off their list. Hopefully this will open it up to one of you that wants to go there. And I thought this whole TMDSAS match thing was flawless!

I guess one just really needs to make his/her application stand out. That's why I'm frantic to add anything I can to make mine a top filer.

I'm pretty sure UTMB reevaluates all the people in their alternate pool before they decide who to bump up. Maybe that's how most schools do it? Good Luck to yall.

Oh, I know selection from the alternate pool can go all the way to the date of matriculation, but does anyone know around when we would start hearing about people making it in from the alternate pool?

Yeah I also got a letter stating that I was on their alternate list although I matched at a higher ranking school. Oh well. I called to tell them to withdraw my name so that it would speed the process for other deserving applicants.

San Antonio will tell you over the phone if you are waitlisted or not if your wondering. I imagine though that letters of rejection will be arriving shortly. I'm thinking of framing it next to my first letter of acceptance. 😉

UTMB - in their alternate pool which has 200 people on it and is not ranked. In their letter, it says they accepted 9 last year out of the pool, and the year before, none.

In my Galveston waitlist letter, it said that most of the waitlist movement for them occurs in May. Anybody know why it takes so long since our letters had to be postmarked today? And also, is this supposed to be about the same at the other TX schools?

I do not believe that any of the other's do. Some might put their lists up in the Admissions office. I know that Southwestern unfortunately does not do this, but the others are worth checking (if you have local connections)...

Got UT Houston's waitlist letter a few wks ago in the mail, I don't know if they posted in on the website or not. I don't think UTHSCSA sends it in the mail right away, but if you call them they will tell you if your on it or not (I was not on it)

Matched at TCOM but alternate at UTSW (2nd quarter) and UTSA.
UTSA is my first choice. MCAT 33Q 3.68 GPA. I guess being a non-traditional (over 35) may have knocked me out at the other schools where I interviewed-TTU, Houston ,TAMU. San Antonio was most receptive to my application and I am hoping for the best. Just have to wait to May or so to find out. If anyone knows about SA alternate list movement would like to know. Call me uninformed but I just found SDN. Great source of information.Thanks.
