I was at EVMS about ten days ago and was thinking about writing a thank you letter to the admissions staff. I know there is something on this message board about writing a thank you to your interviewer but that is pointless since it was a panel interview. I heard that schools in the south like this extra touch(maybe that's why i got put in acceptable range for tulane b/c i didn't send them one...d'oh). Any suggestions on how to address the letter and what to talk about. I did like the school so that is an obvious topic but pretty boring and i'm sure everyone says that.

I sent one to each of my interviewers. I addressed them by name, thanked them for their time, and tried to adress a specific point we discussed during the interview.
I finished with a "thank you again".
Short, simple and to the point.
If you liked something specific aboutt the school, mention that.

I don't know if it helped or not, but I felt better having done it. Sort of like I had my i's dotted and t's crossed.
I'm sure it didn't hurt, either.

I was planning to send thank you notes also; however, I went to an interview a couple of weeks ago and the director of admissions asked us specifically not to send thank you notes and said it just makes it look like we're trying to kiss up to the committee. i guess it depends on the school...

if they specifically say not to send them, then dont. otherwise why not. im sure everyone else does, so you wont look like your kissing ass.

I just sent out a set of thank-you letters. I asked the admissions staff while I was there and they told me how to address them, so it didn't sound like it was a bad idea. I always appreciate a hand-written thank-you note from people; the only difficulty is walking the fine line between genuine gratefulness and sucking up.

you don't have to write a hand-written card. it's nice, but no guarantees that it'll get to your interviewer, and it's slow. I like to send thank you emails, preferably on the same day as the interview if possible. the peeps who interview you tend to be busy people, so first make sure to thank them for their time. i'd list a couple of things you liked about the school...don't be lame. be specific. if you could mention something that you guys talked about in the interview, that's good too.
