Hey guys,

I had an interview this week, which I think went really well. We ended up discussing more so than allotted interview time about something that I was doing mock research project in, which the interviewers were actually doing research in. I was thinking of sending a thank you letter to the interviewers and the school. Unfortunately my interviewers did not have their business cards on them and nor can I only remember one of the two interviewers name.

I was wondering what is the best method to send a thank you letter a) Email, b) Post card with a thank you statement discussing my interest for the school and for interesting talk that we had there or c) hand written letter. Also who should I address it to, the one interviewer or just the admission committee and reference to the one interviewer that I remember his name.

What do you guys think?

Send a hand written letter to the person(s) that interviewed you. Since you don't remember the names of who interviewed you, I would go to the school's website and see if I can look up some faculty members and pick the person out. Many school websites have their pictures attached to their names as well as a little background information. If this fails, then write a letter to the head of the admissions committee and say a few words about the interview and how much you enjoyed it. Make sure you don't go overboard with the compliments. You don't want to look like a total tool in the process.

When I interviewed we actually had about 10 interviewers that were a mix of profs, students, and practitioners. I didn't sent thank you letters to each one of them but after the interview I did send one to the school thanking them for the interview.

After interviewing at two schools, I sent handwritten letters to each thanking them for the interview. I addressed one of the thank you letters to the student activities director whom I had prior conversations with, and I addressed the other letter to the admissions committee. In both thank you notes I mentioned my interviewers.

I would definitely look up the second interviewers name. Look through all the paperwork you received on the day of your interview, you might have something that lists who you interviewed with and the location of the interview.

Good luck!
