Thank you note FROM the residency?

i wrote all the requisite thank you notes to residencies. One of them sent me a thank you note in return, thanking me for my note, and informing me that if i had any questions i shoudl call.

Are thank you notes FROM programs normal? What do i make of this? i'm not going to rank anything differently, but why would a program go to this effort?

send another thankyou for the return thankyou, keep doing so, and see who stops first, you or the program.

So that you'll rank them high. Therefore, if they don't get their first 21 choices, they'll get you, their 22nd choice. 🙂
