thank you notes for interviewers

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
No, from what I've heard from others, as well as my experience, they don't usually respond to notes, but I got one or two responses from thank you emails that I sent out.

I was wondering the same thing...I haven't received any responses for my thank you emails either.
I'm guessing it is not customary for them to do so. It's probably more of a formality for the interviewer to see that you are actually interested in the school.

So no note=not actually interested

How do you go about getting their email address (contact information)? Is it proper to ask them for their contact information during the interview?

Like I said in an earlier post similar to this one, my friend last year interviewed at 7 schools and got accepted to 5 without a single thank you letter or email, its not going to make or break you but is a nice gesture.

While it may not be essential to your acceptance it certainly reflects well upon you. I sent real "snail mail" thank yous instead of emails. I don't know if that matters at all but I think it is a lot more personal than an email, especially if you had a really good interview. As far as emailing, just call the schools and they should be able to give them to you, only do that though if you can't find it online anywhere (nothing says "I'm too lazy and want the easy way out" than calling for email addresses when they are right there online). If going the snail mail route just address it to the central office of which ever dental school they are located and send them there with the interviewers name above the normal address. Hope this helps.
