thank you notes tips

My school had a workshop on this.. here's what they suggested..
1. reiterate your interest in the school, 2. mention something u guys talked about during the interview, 3. your strength, and 4. something you possibly left out during the interview.

Of course keep it short.. I was able to do all that in a small thank you card. Hope this helps!

do u buy a card and hand write it or do you type it on a white paper?

jesus... i wrote... "thank you for giving me the opportunity to come in and speak to you. I had great time touring the campus and hope to see you soon."

seriously... keep it simple and short. it's the thought that counts.

Agreed. Thank you notes are a nice gesture, but are not going to influence their decision post-interview. Sweet and simple will show your appreciation.

It was short.. 4-5 sentences. I went with what my school prehealth advising taught us. I didnt want it to be generic by just saying thanks.

I bought a pack of 20 thank you cards for 5 bucks and handwrote it.

My interviewer gave me his email. I just emailed him a short letter about how I liked touring the campus etc. Nothing too much.

where did you buy them? Every thank you card i was gonna buy, had a weird message on it. I just want a simple card that only says thank u and nothing else.

Walgreen, CVS, Duane Reade all sell them. (Any local drug or grocery store should have them?) Good luck!!

and to whom do you address the thank you cards/letters? to the admissions office? i'm confused....😕

The person who interviews you.

Unless you meant what physical address to send the card to, then that would be the admissions office. If the interviewer gave you his/her direct P.O. Box then you can send it there as well.

Pick up some nice designer printer paper and matching color envelopes, which you can find these at Office Depot. I got some ivory colored paper and ivory colored envelopes. Print your thank you letters out on the designer paper and make sure to sign each of your letters.

When writing your thank you letters do not try to "patch up" weaknesses in your interview. You can make things worse by bringing up weaknesses that may be otherwise overlooked.

Also, try to mail your thank you letters out the day after or two days after your interview date. On the day of the interview, kindly ask the secretary to write down the names of your interviewers for you.

One of my thank you cards just got sent back to me... I think I messed up on the address. It's been awhile since that interview so unfortunately I'll just not send a thank you card to that person. Ohh well.

It was not meant to be...

You have no chance now. No thank you note = No acceptance.
🙄

Are we supposed to send a thank you note to everyone we met at the interview? the director of admissions? the dean? interviewers? the tour guide? the students we talked to?

I personally think that saying thank you as you exit the interview is sufficient.

What do you guys think about sending the thank you message?

Email vs. Snail Mail ?

How did you get your interviewers e-mail?? They usually don't give out personal contact information..

In the faculty section of the school's website? Not all faculty members have an email address tho... so email is better?

I would say so. At least you know for sure they will come across it. I have no idea if they even get snail mail or if it's just thrown away

Thank you notes????? You kiddin me? Last time I checked, I was the one shelling out 4 or 5 hundred dollars, travelling across the country, missing work and class.... While they just sit there looking bored asking canned questions. Where's my thank you note???

And don't forget about having tuition paid for by the schools if you are accepted.

Haha, I see what you're saying, but it's just polite. It's just saying thank you for your time and consideration.
