Thank you notes

so, a general question on thank you notes...what is the preferred method of sending thank you notes to programs? Is it regular mail or email? Does it really matter? What if it is a program you are really interested in?
Any thoughts appreciated.

I hand delivered one of mine. Seriously, I went to the PD's office and dropped it off at the front desk.

I am personally going with hand-written thank you notes to each interviewer and the PD. It gets expensive, because it takes me three or four note cards to get one that I like. I end up with four cards in the trash to one in the mail. It's a lot of note cards. Maybe it's just my OCD acting up.

I have been emailing the program directors and the folks who interviewed me--often being self-described "compulsive emailers," many times they'll respond. I'm sure you're fine either way.

Thanks for the quick replies...I'm going with emails. I can't imagine the method of correspondence making any actual difference come rank time.

I can't imagine it mattering, either, but I'm still paranoid. Handwritten for me, unless the interviewer/PD e-mailed me first. Only 6/35 left to write! (And I have 4 more interviews to go, who knows how many notes....)
