So, I'm sure many of you ASA member got the email yesterday about Roger Moore term coming to an end.

I think we all (especially residents) owe a great deal of gratitude to the guy. He is likely the best president the ASA has had in the last few years. He has been more aggressive and has made the ASA more 'visible' with its branding and such.

He's definitely made the new 'standard' for a president of the ASA. I hope people will take what he has done in terms of advocacy and take it to the next level.

Thanks Dr. Moore.

I concur; thanks for posting the thread. I just finished reading the letter he wrote to Speaker Pelosi re: the Medicare sodomy anesthesiologists endure. I think Dr. Moore has been proactive and sensible. I would like to see more "mass media" exposure regarding anesthesiologists, but Dr. Moore's tenure has marked a great advancement compared to previous ASA Presidents.

Let's hope the positive trend continues.

Not anymore he doesnt.

Plus, he's been the BIGGEST advocate for anesthesiologists.

MILMD, dont let your bitterness cloud your judgement or allow it to taint Dr. Moore's contribution. He's done a heck of a lot more than people like yourself and individuals in your generation to increase the awareness and importance of anesthesiologists. The guy deserves more credit than what we can offer here.

I enjoy the battling b/w you guys and the "other" website. I did find this interesting pic which seems relevant for this situation. It seems the "other" website's owner was staffed on several occasions as a student last year by Dr. Moore. I would check this pic out and make up your own minds.

which generation is that....he's one hell of a lot older than me...

Yes he does.

He works at Deborah Heart and lung where he works with CRNAs who do the hearts and helps to train the SRNAs. This is common knowledge and has been his practice for many many years.

Not anymore he doesnt.

according to you ...anyone who works with crnas and trains srnas is sellout.

do you want any stories about the cute srnas he teaches?

:laugh:HA hahaha

a little different....as in he doesn't work with CRNAs and teach srna's...????

Just a minor tiny little bit different?

as opposed to reality where he DOES teach srnas...?

I think working together with CRNAs is part of the professional demands that will be placed on us. However, having a collegial interactions with nurses should never detract any of us from our goals of advocating for the specialty.

It's easier to do it when we don't have to face CRNAs everyday. It takes more guts to do it when you actually have to.

You are probably right about that. I'm happy that where I've been so far, CRNAs have not been used. Fortunately, things also work out for us in the sense that we aren't 'over worked' either. Coming to the end of my residency, I'm just happy I havent had to teach a CRNA or SRna,etc.

I agree though, it's probably a lot tougher if you are at one of those programs with them.

I have no problems working with CRNAs. However, even as a resident, I see HUGE GAPS in their overall knowledge (this includes the seasoned veterans). My stance is that I will NEVER teach CRNA/SRNAs. No f'ing way. What you don't know you can learn in medical school & residency.

And I agree w/ the OP, Dr Moore (despite posing with the murse) has done a lot more for our specialty than the previous guy (Dr Lema). For those who remember, Dr Lema came to the forum to chastize us- What a douchebag. I hope the next president carries on what Dr Moore has started.

You mean sort of like what I do sometimes?
