For those of us taking the test on the 17th of July.

Registration opens today...sometime today.

I'm nervous. 2 years of post-bacc, volunteering, pipetting (sp?) and counting flies all comes down to this.

Good luck everyone.

I feel a lot better.

Know what I did?

I went to MD apps and looked at some of the profiles of people who were accepted to two of my dream schools. I realized you can get in anywhere with a decent MCAT and a strong overall application. MCAT doesn't have to be stellar, just good.

I can do this.

On another note: I went to bed last night at 10:30 and woke up at 6:30 today. 8 hours of sleep...I had forgotten what it felt like. I'm trying to get my clock set right for Friday.

Just reserved a round of golf Thursday morning, 7am! I though if I got up early it would help me sleep Thursday night. I might review a bit thursday, but no hard studying. What are you guys doing thursday?

How early are you going to show up to your exam? 30 min? I'm taking the am? What do you think? Dallas traffic sucks so....

I was actually thinking about a round of golf as well! It will just be hard to play without beer. That's my usual excuse as to why my game was so bad... ha ha

Not a bad idea. I'm trying the same thing. Although, last night I went to bed at 3AM and got up at 8... Not quite the same, but I bet I'm tired tonight.

...So I took the free princeton review diag just for some extra practice this morning...

Got a 10 on PS and I'm like W T F!!! I go to the answer review..and I see that for some reason I didn't do the LAST FIVE questions..Their stupid CBT format made me think I was done..those 5 extra questions would have bumped me to a 12 on PS.

I was thinking at the end...damn I have a ton of time left over whats wrong here..

I'm such an idiot lol.

 Now you're assuming you would have gotten all 5 correct. 😛

Haha true. But I just did them and there weren't bad at all.

1 quick pH question, 1 quick bohrs atom conceptual question, 1 quick conceptual question seeing if you know the difference in length/energy between C-C and C=C.

Last two required pencil work, had to play with a lens equation one, and had to draw SO2 to figure out oxidation state on S.

I know I would have gotten them 😛

I'm in a MUCH better mood knowing my PS is in decent shape.

Nice, man. PS is really the only section I'm really stressing, which is odd, because it seems like the section you can prepare the most for.

I'm getting excited guys!!! I can't wait for this damn exam to finally get here!!! I'm finding it harder to study though...

So, I just made plans to go see Harry Potter right after my exam. That compounded with popcorn and an icee should take the edge off. 😀

Anyone else seeing Potter? I think Capn said she is. It looks good!

I'm going to do what I haven't been able to do normally for the past two weeks: eat, sleep, and vegetate in front of the tv.

I'm pretty excited too, my entire summer has been MCAT..I had my last final exams of college -> full week of partying with my friends after graduation -> then studying MCAT ever since..and this was mid May..

after the MCAT I'm gonna really devote myself to getting 2ndaries out ASAP, already have a few piled up. But soooo much less stressssffulllll.

Can't go wrong with a little TV time, especially if you have an XBox 360 connected to said TV. 😀

Damn, man! That's solid! I started 50% study days in the beginning of June, then kicked it into overdrive around June 15th (give or take a few days).

Yeah, the 2ndaries and application are going to be my focus as well. I'm giving myself until next Wed to get my application in and I want all my secondaries done by the time I get my MCAT and my application is verified. I'll still find plenty of time to drink, sleep, watch TV, hang out with friends, and golf in between there though. It will be nothing like MCAT studying.

I suggest getting in your primary ASAP. It takes a while to get it verified -> takes some time for schools to send you a secondary. Earlier is better, period.

I heard Transformers II was phenom! 😀

@ the iPhone app: LOL! I need to check this out.

Yep. I just need to study for the MCAT until Friday. Then it's on for the primary. I'm going to get the secondaries from the application thread in pre-allo, so I'll have all my secondary essays completed before my application is verified.

Hmmm, I heard the only thing good about it were the explosions and Megan Fox, but I'm into both of those things, so I'll have to check that one out as well. 🙂

I'm sorry, I could deal if it was hot pink, but hotpink/brightred is just not a good textbook color.

Yea, my current to-see list involves Harry Potter and Bruno.

I don't think I've seen HP5 yet...I should probably get on that.. 😛

ARGGG I don't want to do any more practice tests!!!!!!!! Finding it incredibly difficult to concentrate at this point. I've done 3, 6, 7, 4, 8, 9, and doing 10 currently... can't wait until this is over.

:soexcited:

I've heard Bruno wasn't that great. I'll probably wait to see it on DVD.

You better get on that! The books and movies get a lot darker and more intriguing as they move through the series.

Are you taking 5 tomorrow? I'm taking 9 in the AM and that's my last one!!!

This is so true. Even more so when it's your last summer before med school! (This'll be you next year :luck::xf:)

I hope so! I'm happy for you though. You've worked hard to get where you're at. I hope you're excited and ready for a hell of a ride. 😉 🙂

I've read the books (5 and 6), can't remember what happened in 6 for sure... watched 4, haven't watched 5 yet, but probably will sometime during the summer.

I might do aamc 5... depends on my mood and ability to sit through another one of these that's not the real thing!! seriously, i just want to take it NOW. lol.

booked a manicure for tomorrow. my mom's forcing me to relax. 😀

Nice. Aren't there 7 books? I don't remember, I know that I liked them all. You should catch up!!!

Yeah, I hear you on that. I was doing passages from the AAMC guidebook today and was like 😕. While i think my percentages were similar, the questions were much more difficult, because they required more background information (such as constants, formulas I've never seen - but yet was expected to know..., and more calculations). The calculations were pretty easy, but remember all the constants is something I probably wouldn't have done (Or I don't know them as well as I thought I knew them). Some wording is a little trickier as well.

ha ha. Enjoy your manicure! I'm taking Thursday off (maybe not completely, but mostly).

What other study material have you used and how does it compare?

Yea, my post-MCAT life will be pretty sweet.

I'm also finding it incredibly hard to study anymore.

@olemissbabydoc,

I didn't think it was something I was interested in, but yesterday I shadowed an ob/gyn and I loved it! It's partially because the doctor I shadowed was so nice, but I liked it more than any other specialty I have seen so far.

I'm also finding it incredibly hard to study anymore.
I didn't study any yesterday but took my last practice test today, AAMC 10. I'm going to look over it and try to review some more bio/do some passages since that's my weakest subject, but I feel like now it's kind of too late and anything I do won't even help.

Your scores are awesome though, so you probably don't even need to study anymore.

Just took 7. My bio is getting better. My other sections are steady. I'm ok with this.

I'm going to do a few electrochem, optics, thermo and kinetics problems today and tomorrow just to make myself feel a little better.

On a fun note, I'd like to thank the guy who felt the need to sit at the computer behind me in the library and start slurping his soup and generally making noises while eating that I'm sure his mother wouldn't approve of. On top of that I have to wonder why he was EATING IN THE DAMN LIBRARY in the first place? It was a nice quiet library. Sigh.

Oh, and on a lame note. Hopefully there will actually be a shuttle launch today - 6:03 Eastern. Space is among the top of my varied nerdy interests. I'm going to watch it. There's some confidence to be derived from the fact we can put people on top of a controlled explosion, have them rendezvous with an object traveling 22,000 mph then bring them back to Earth that makes the PS on the mcat seem like somewhat of a joke.

CANT STUDY EITHER! But the prob is that my verbal sucks! Just did AAMC 9 yesterday and got PS 11, VR 4! BS 10. What should I do. Dont feel ready but wanna get this done with

Eep. What constants? I've only memorized the speed of light... what else is needed? gravitation and electrical (whatever the analog to gravitation is, k I think?)

haha... I am indeed 🙂

hang in there guys! morning test or afternoon?

I hate those people!! My least favorite is the people who eat crunchy foods -apples, crackers, whatever. I HAVE EARS!! if you're hungry, leave the damn library.

Definitely don't need k or big G. Maybe Planck's constant? (not that I know it, haha). Definitely Avogadro's #, though. I missed an AAMC Q once because I forgot it.

Im on the same boat... I have been doing TERRIBLE on VR.. like 6's... I just don't get it. What should we do?

I generally get 11-13 on the verbal, but I think some of the best advice (it only works for certain passages) came from EK Verbal:

For humanities (and any social/natural sciences that seem to be anything but pure information) stereotype the author as much as possible to choose correct answers, and if you aren't sure, it's probably best to avoid the answers that are extremely strong in their wording (might is better than will, for example, and answers with probably tend to be more right).

These strategies aren't enough to get you anywhere near a 15, but it can certainly help if you are struggling on those types of passages.

Thanks Capn. I have that Avogadros number too (I just didn't think of it). Only it and c, though. Hopefully that'll be enough.

I'm tired of being so stressed, its definitely not healthy for me. I'm gonna do some strong review today, and probably some minor brushing up on stuff for tomorrow. No more practice exams for me.

I wish us all good luck for Fri. Go in, think, perform, and get out.

For some odd reason as much as I study for this test I never feel prepared. Anyone havethe same prob? I am afraid that there might be something that will come that I have no clue! :scared:

u guys think the VR is gonna be much harder then the AAMC's, people are claiming its much longer...god i hope there is one or 2 orgo passages MAX on there, almost done with AAMC10

I hope the VR is harder, so the scale isn't as bad. The scale for AAMC10 is kind of ridiculous.
