Thought we should get this thread started!

My name is Jon and I'm a re-taker from May 10th. Was really hoping for a 30+ but ended up with a 29P. PS 12 VR 07 BS 10 . One point on verbal is what is making me retake!!! Good luck to everyone, and lets hope the AAMC gods will be in our favor on test day....bc my May 10th test was hard as hell. 😀

I was wondering when this thread was going to show up.

I'm a retaker from 5/31 I got a 28Q (8PS 10VR 10BS)

My practice scores on the AAMC were generally 10PS 11+VR and 12+BS however there was like no gen chem in the PS and barely any Ochem in the BS which are my two best subjects (biochemistry major)

I'm hoping for a 33+ on this test, i know it sounds like a lot.

Is it just me or does it seem like the MCAT's have gotten harder? It's like the bio is another verbal section basically and it seems to me that the physics is way harder (well that and it's my worst subject).

Anyway. Good luck to everyone

Nice breakdown... I got the same on 6/13. I'm shooting for a 33 also, and my practice tests were similar to yours (10-11 PS, 11-12 VR, 11-12 BS) but seems I just didn't have it on test day. Also not so much Chem though I had a fair deal of Ochem. Lot of Genetics, too. Anyway, a pre-med advisor told me that all the pre-med advisors agree the new MCAT is a different animal than the old MCATs, it's changed and is very difficult for our year in particular bc we don't have adequate prep materials yet for the new one. So don;t worry, it IS harder. But a 33 is doable! Good luck to you too👍

Thanks, it's nice to hear that the premed advisors think that this year is a lot harder/ different than past years. It makes me feel a little less dumb haha.

You make a good point that our prep materials are geared more towards the older versions of the test (last 2-3 yrs) and really need to be updated.

I also feel like no practice test ever reaches the new difficulty of the mcat (especially the bio-as-another-verbal-section)

Eh, but what are you going to do. Time to get back to studying

I also feel like no practice test ever reaches the new difficulty of the mcat (especially the bio-as-another-verbal-section)

I hope bio is like verbal because I like verbal better than orgo any day. I took a practice last night and was so tired (already worked all day and studied stupid idea to take a practice at 10:30pm!) It has 2 orgo passages and several discrete questions it sunk my score because I haven't spent any time on organic... time to hit the organic book apparently

You guys applying this year?

Doesn't seem like a lot of people are taking it on the 5th! :luck:

yes I am applying this year- I have about 10 secondaries already complete except for this score- and this is my first time to take the exam.

hey guys, I was wondering if you all knew how difficult aamc 5 and 6 are compared to the real beast. I took 6 last week and got a 37 and took 5 today and got a 37 on that too. I am pretty excited but i dont want to have a false sense of security when i walk in to the prometric center and be completely floored by the real thing. One more thing, it seems like I am stuck on 12 on verbal, no matter what test I take EK, TPR, Kaplan, AAMC I always end up with a 12. Although it is a good score, I am a little frustrated cuz I cant seem to bring it up. Any pointers?

Happy studying!

Yep, applying this cycle also... I think most people have either already taken their MCAT and gotten the score they wanted, or they're retaking, but waiting until a later date, either mid-August or even September, so they can better prepare for it. Early August is, in that respect, kind of a middle ground for people like you and me.

If you feel you can do better, definitely retake it. I just looked at your MDapps, you're only applying to less than 10 schools??

Yeah, kind of crazy I know, but I really want to stay in the Midwest (Wisconsin or Minnesota if possible), and have to pay for the whole application process myself. I am fairly confident that I can get into at least one of my state schools, so I want to save my money! Hopefully it all works out or I don't know what I will do!

I am a 6/13 re-taker. Lame MCAT made me sad faced 🙁. I got PS:11 VR:8 BS:10 WS😛. I pretty much predicted my score after I took it. I was not pleased. Genetics on Bio killed me and I think lack of sleep made VR much harder than it should have been. I started studying again 4 days ago. Took 2 tests PR free diag (30) and AAMC 7 (31) ok signs but I was scoring mid 30's before test. I would recommend sticking to your sleep schedule at least 6 days in advance and I would say AAMC tests were probably the best predictors.

this is my first time and I am just now finishing up content review- hopefully this can go well- the last practice I took was in June and I scored a 7 is the sciences (both BS and PS) and a 9 on the verbal... since then i focused on content- I am praying that the content review will propel me to 10's in sciences and that a few more practices and verbal test over the next week can get me to 10-12 in VR.

nah it's all good
we gonna get 37's
let's go guys

I can hope for that!!! I keep reviewing- I did an AAMC PS section today and got a 9 thats my highest yet in that section... so if I can get a point or two there in the next week I would be super happy!

May was all content review
June was content review with some practice tests near the end of the month
July all practice problems and practice tests, 2 weeks of content review before the test.

I'm taking AAMC10 Friday and just light review (~1hr/day) up to the day of the test.

yeah im really nervous. i want to postpone my test again, does anyone know if its too late to switch to the sept date? i know i lose the money, but its okay.

also i am scoring the lowest on PR (28s), then AAMC (32s), and the best on Kaplan (36s). im confused with the trend...

PR is harder... Kaplan curve is too generous...

AAMC is just right! I would say you are in the 30-33 range.

Good luck to all of you guys!

Once I finish this, I will have to take down a mound of secondary applications. I hope the rest of you can at least enjoy what's left of summer.

has everyone done all the AAMC FLs? I haven't had the chance to do all of them and kinda worried....:luck:

No I have only done 3 FL test... I am going to do 1-2 more before the MCAT but certainly not all of them... need to do content more

I am going to save my aamc score averages on here so that i can compare that to the real thing.

AAMC #3 12 11 12
AAMC #6 13 12 11
AAMC #7 13 12 13
AAMC #8 11 14 10
AAMC #9 13 10 14
AAMC 10 ? ? ?

My AAMC scores have been good, but I am worried because everyone says the real MCAT is far harder.

AAMC 4: 13 13 12
AAMC 5: 13 11 11
AAMC 6: 14 13 13
AAMC 7: 13 13 12
AAMC 8: 13 12 11

Going to take AAMC 9 tomorrow.

And AAMC 10 Monday.

Then real thing Tuesday 🙁

God help us all 🙁

Your breakdown of the scores and the scores themselves are really consistent and, of course, amazing. For some reason i think you will be okay 😀.

P.S. a test the day before the real thing might be too exhausting, just take 9 or 10 and rest the day before.👍

Did all 8 of them......then reviewed them...redid them again...then reviewed them...plus a couple of Kaplan FL afterwards.

Let's hope the questions are not ridiculously hard on our test day. Now who's with me to kick some serious MCAT tush???

jesus! My verbal is always below 10....

Good luck on the test everyone!! I'm finally done studying and taking today and tomorrow off to make sure I'm fresh and mentally ready come Tuesday. I'm also cutting myself off from SDN to prevent any unnecessary anxiety! Best of luck to all of you 8/5ers!

Good luck to everyone on Tuesday, and good luck in the upcoming cycle! 🙂

i'm still going strong today and tomorrow. took a practice test today, got a 33 (which is a LOT higher than what i got on the actual thing). i found that reading the passages for the answers have been much more helpful than memorizing things. i hope it goes well for everyone here!

I took 10 today. I thought the PS was easy, verbal was fair but the curve was ridiculous. I missed 4 questions and made an 11. BS was too orgo heavy. I hope that isnt the case on tuesday. Well I am done with all the testing until tuesday. Good Luck to all of you! 👍

PS was my weak point on June 13th, and I knew it. I studied a ton of content in the last 3 weeks, and really hit the books hard especially in the last week leading up to 9 and 10... the VR took a hit, but I hope that's just because of the curves or test-taking conditions or something that'll go away when I'm in the testing center on Tuesday. But finally... done taking tests until the real deal. Until then, happy birthday to me [tomorrow] lol:hardy: I hope I get a nice present from AAMC on my MCAT...

GOod luck on Tues. everyone!!! Take your hard-earned break tomr, we've earned it. Seriously, this MCAT studying has put a toll on me. Not only do you need to know 4 diff science subj at heart, but you also need to adapt to the test time.

Well, off to bed for me. btw, 12six, happy birthday. =)

Thank you!

I took AAMC 9 tonight. Got 14 11 13, so I am happy with that. I might take the bio/phys portions of AAMC 10 tomorrow. I would take verbal, but I don't want to do too much tomorrow.

Good luck to everyone! Just stay relaxed. You KNOW the material. Just pretend the exam on Tuesday is another practice test. Go in and do your best!

a jump from 10 to 13 within in a span of three weeks is incredible! great job man 👍 Good luck to ya and Happy Birthday!:hardy:

Hehe thanks everyone! I'm probably not coming back on here anymore before the test, so good luck to all of you tomorrow!

good luck peeps taking it 8/5 🙂 You will all rock it I can tell 🙂

Goodluck guys!!! Try not to stress (I know its easier said than done). Walk in through those doors with an air of confidence as if it is just another practice test.:luck:
