I know I follow a lot of people's journeys as they go through the application season, but it's hard to remember what everyone's up to currently and what sort of challenges they're facing. It's almost February, and most of us have been on interviews and/or have been accepted.

Here's my situation: I've been accepted to PNWU after being put on a hold post-interview for my Fall grades. I've got until Feb 9th to place my $1000 deposit, but I'm still waiting for Touro NV and Touro NYC for their decisions after my interviews. It's been 2.5 weeks since Henderson and 4 days since Harlem. Both schools have a $2000 deposit due in a couple of weeks if I get accepted as well, so it's all coming down to the wire! I'm working a lot but it's hard to keep my mind off this!

Another wrench in the ol' plans is that the gf is taking her NCLEX (nursing boards) in a couple of weeks, and she's moving wherever I go. She's got a dream job lined up as a new grad starting in March, but as soon as she starts she agrees to a 2.5 year commitment (but not a contract), where if she leaves she has to pay the pro-rated amount subtracted from $5000 for her training costs (nowithstanding paying back her signing bonus). If she works one day, she will owe $5000. If she works a year, which is what most places require for experience when she moves, she'll still owe more than a couple thousand. :scared:

Oh well. In a couple of weeks, I'll have heard back from the schools and should make my decision!! Exciting!

What about you guys? Where are you at? What sort of issues are you facing?

I finished undergrad last spring and I decided to take a year off in order retake the mcat (July). I applied to several DO schools and to one MD school, my state school. My boyfriend is a first year at our state school and he will be there for the next 3 years. I was hoping that we could stay close, but we both think med school comes first.

My first and only interview was at KCUMB in November; I was so relieved when I got accepted here. I decided to put down the acceptance deposit to ensure I have a seat. However, a few weeks later I got invited for an interview at my state school, unfortunately I'll have to wait several months before I actually get a response. When that time comes I'll have to make a decision and although I may lose $2,000 in the process, in the long run state tuition is much cheaper.

Currently enrolled in a SMP. Applied to 7 DO schools. Got secondaries from all but one, darn you Touro-NY. Got my first interview invitation at WesternU my top choice in November, but they put my application on post-interview hold until my fall grades came out. Interviewed at Touro-NV in December and was accepted. Didn't know if I would get into WesternU or not so I had to put down my deposit. Thankfully, I was accepted into WesternU after submitting my fall grades, so I will be withdrawing from Touro-NV soon. The whole process has definitely been stressful and very costly, but I am very glad to be starting my medical education fall 2012. Gotta finish this darn expensive and difficult SMP though lol. Anyways, I got very lucky getting into my number one choice, I hope others will be fortunate this application cycle too!

I was interview at PCOM and WVSOM and accepted to both. I decided to attend PCOM and mailed my deposit in almost immediately. Now I have to get my physical, criminal background check, financial aid, etc. Besides that, I'm just working and enjoying life.

Got accepted earlyish to AZCOM, my #2. Was waiting for months to hear from Western-Pomona, and recently got a rejection email. At least now my cycle is over, and I know where I'm going for sure in August. Time to live it up!.

I was invited to interview at all three touro schools, Lecom Erie, and my first choice westernu. I was put on alternate list at Lecom and high alternate at touro ca. I was fortunate enough to be accepted to both WesternU and Touro Ny. Dropped my touro acceptance once my western acceptance came through. Starting at western in June with the ISAC course. Now I'm just counting the days till I can quit my job and start school.

Also just received a rejection e-mail from Western-Pomona, oh wellz! I also got accepted earlyish at KCOM. Interveiewed at DMU and got waitlisted the day before my KCOM interview. Turned down interview invites after KCOM acceptance. Now just workin like a boss...

Neat thread. I was beginning to lose track of everyone's status as well.

I applied to 11 DO schools... got interviews to all 11. DMU was fortunately my first one, and I fell in love with it and knew that if I got accepted, I'd cancel the others. Went to KCUMB next, and got my DMU acceptance email 10 minutes before my actual KCUMB interview 🙂laugh🙂... so I went back to the hotel room later and cancelled all my other interviews. I ended up getting accepted to KCUMB as well, but declined. So yea... DMU c/o 2016!

As for now... I'm just learning how to relax, lol. I hope that most of us will still have time next year to keep in touch on SDN, and of course help the future class of 2017. Congrats to us who have been accepted... and good luck to those who are still waiting!

Submitted primaries to 12 DO schools. Completed my in-state D.O. school secondary first (MSU) in mid-september. I was accepted 9 days later (without an interview) while working on my CCOM and NSUCOM secondaries and it was my top choice so I stopped working on secondaries and have been chilling ever since 👍. Didn't complete the secondaries for any other school. Just counting down the days til I can quit my job as a nursing assistant

To make a long story short...DDS 10 years ago (this may), heading to DMC campus (MSUCOM) this june C/O 2016

Accepted to MSUCOM in early October and now just working full time until June.

Applied to 16 schools (didn't know my MCAT score when I applied) got interviews to 10. Was accepted to Western-Lebanon, after my LECOM Bradenton interview. I already had a plane ticket for a couple of interviews, but I cancelled 6 of my interviews. I will be attending Western Lebanon in the fall. Now I'm just working full time while I wait for school to start.

Wow, congratulations to everyone here! 😀

As an update, I got letters from both Touro NYC and Touro NV. I got high waitlisted at NV and regular waitlist at NYC. We'll see what happens! 👍

Applied to 6 DO schools and my state MD school, and got interviews to all of them. I interviewed at DMU, KCUMB, my state school, and LECOM Erie. I got accepted at KCUMB and LECOM Erie. I decided to go to LECOM and canceled the rest of the interviews. I'm in the PCSP and I'm excited to start in the Fall!

Applied to 14 DO schools, completed secondaries at about 10 or 11, recieved 6 or 7 interview invites, but received an acceptance at Lecom-B very early in the cycle. Attended an interview the following week at my pre-interviews favorite school PNWU, but felt like Lecom w/PBL was the better pick for me. Cancelled remaining interviews and ended my cycle very early on.

Basically applied to bunch of MD and DO schools. Too many actually and it was dumb mistake on my part. I didn't even complete half of the secondaries. Received interview invites for almost all of the DO schools that I applied to, but luckily my first two interviews were at DMU and WesternU (1st choice for DO school). Was accepted at both and decided to go with WesternU (but DMU is an absolute gorgeous school). After that I declined all the other DO school interviews.

As for MD schools, I had a few interviews in the east coast and in the south and was accepted to two MD school. But as for right now, I'm picking Western over those schools. Given my current situation, I simply cannot leave California. So for the time being it's looking like Western. It's definitely a relief once you are accepted somewhere!

Applied super late, took the MCAT late, then got my LOR for MSUCOM late. My secondaries were complete December 7th. I got high waitlisted at MSUCOM with a guaranteed spot in the class of 2017 if space doesn't open up 2016. From what I here, it typically does.

Would have liked to get on either the DMC or Macomb campus, but I think East Lansing is pretty much where they send everyone in the late phases, right? If anyone knows otherwise I'd appreciate a comment 🙂

I applied to 5 DO schools in August/September. Interviewed at LECOM-B (love!) and at Touro NY. Accepted to both, placed a deposit for LECOM-B. 🙂

made a mistake on my NYCOM (top DO choice) application... so major delay - no news
PCOM, NOVA - no news. Not sure if I should withdraw.

Waiting on my decision from NYMC.

Just working now in research, enjoying the lovely Florida weather and can't wait to start med school! it's hard to picture it though when I still don't know where I'll be next year.

Applied to 10 DO schools, sent secondaries to 8 and received interviews at all 8. Went to DMU and KCUMB, got accepted to both but withdrew everything to attend DMU as it was my #1 school. I finished my bachelors in December and have been working, reading, trying to workout, and lollygagging. It is quite nice as I had a year of hell before applying. Got some major purchases out of the way and getting everything paid off and saved up for. Paid half of my deposit (why pay the whole thing?) and sent my transcript, but right now, I am just gliding and it is fantastic.

Congrats to those that have been accepted and good luck to those in limbo.

Bump.

A couple of weeks away from orientation at Touro-NV, apartment all leased and Penske moving truck about to be packed. Fiancee staying at home until she finds a job.

Yep, about the same for me too. Moving a bunch of furniture out of my room this afternoon to take to the dump. Everything else is in a tub for easy moving and I'll probably throw it in the truck today or tomorrow. Leaving Monday at 9am. Got 16 hrs. in the car.

Orientation next week at LMU. Everything is set up in the apartment and I have books ordered. It's getting real quickly  ... :scared:

Registering for classes next Friday at LECOM-B then orientation and Day 1 on the 30th. It's getting more real each and every day. I'm very excited! Still trying to wrap up some research, submitting a couple manuscripts that I've been working on for a while now. On top of all that my car got wrecked the other night so I might have to come back home to get a new car after anatomy starts.

Congratulations to all my fellow SDN colleagues of the Class of 2016! Best of luck to anyone still waiting to hear back.

Ouch, that sucks. Best of luck getting everything worked out!

And ditto! 😀

Exciting, guys! ****'s getting real, quickly.

Ughhhh, I hate hate hate moving. Happy hour get-together with future classmates on the 30th and then Orientation on the 6th. Probably going to give in and buy an iPad, too.

I just moved and as of tonight am finished unpacking. It was a TON of work... and probably the biggest workout I've had in a long time. Unloaded 2 PACKED cars' contents up 3 flights of stairs in a couple hours. Not bad, right?!

Orientation coming up soon... then classes start on Aug 13. Very excited... somewhat nervous. What we do these next 4 years will directly shape our future careers. Pretty intense, but that's what makes it awesome! Not to mention the great friendships we'll make along the way.

Good luck to us all. Hopefully we all visit SDN sometimes to help the future premeds and to just catch up with each other. 😎 You all are a pretty neat bunch. 🙂

Seriously. I was just packing up a couple of things for the big move, and I was like what the hell happened to time? I've thoroughly enjoyed the six weeks I've been off from work and I'm really (really!) looking forward to school, but it went by so damn fast! I remember when I got accepted back in November and I couldn't wait for school to start. Now it's here. It's so crazy, but I'm pretty pumped nonetheless.

Yep, same here. Orientation starts on the 8th and class starts on the 13th. Moving in two days to get settled in and meet some classmates before I lose my life to school. Since I'm living on campus, I'm hoping the move will be pretty straightforward (except for the drive, aaahhh).

+1

Unfortunately, I will be moving into my new place a week after school starts. Not very ideal, and not too excited about that. I hope I am able to move everything in within 2 hours, that is pretty solid, toytles.

Very quick. It took me more than 16 hours to move a studio into a 1 bedroom.

I got together with a few classmates last night and watched Batman. I'm glad I'm already getting to know people.

We'll definitely have to stay in touch. We got through the craziness of applying together, now we have to get through med school together. 👍

Ha, thanks guys. Good luck with all the moving! 🙂

Yup! I'll probably take my talents to south bea... I mean, the Osteopathic section. So I might post there more often than here. It'll be cool to stay connected with you guys through medschool. 👍

I'm applying this cycle to be in the class of 2017, and i love this thread! I can't wait to be where you guys are right now: accepted and dilly-dallying and waiting to attend med school!

All moved in! After a long *** drive, the heat, being dehydrated, feeling hungry and exhausted, getting everything unpacked, shopping, and a ton of other crap, I'm FINALLY settled in. Oh, how I love moving...

I've got a couple of things I need to do today (ID badge, Wal-Mart, etc.), but so far so good...How's everyone else been?

What school are you at?

Drove 12 hours to find that the apartment reeked of smoke. The office lady says she can't smell it and the mgr is off til Monday. They did a duct cleaning but it just smells like they hid a tub of nasty old lady potpourri up there to mask the smell. Ugh. Going to watch batman and check out the strip tonight.

Moved into AZCOM on Friday with ma wife and a car packed full of junk. Had to buy all my furniture here, but my 600sqft studio is looking pretty sweet. Slapped two 59"x29" Ikea desks together to create my megadesk. The heat sucks balls in AZ (compared to Cali) but I'll get used to it. Today's the second day of orientation and if it's anything like the first, I'll die of boredom before I even start.

Official MS1? Official MS1. CHECK IT <---------------
**** JUST GOT REAL.

I have my first dissection lab today! :scared:

Med school is officially real.

And how awesome does it feel to have the 'medical student' status under your avatar?

It would feel even better there was a "Boss Status" option. I kid I kid. ManBroDude, sorry to hear about your stinky apartment.

much respect. 🙂

Can you guys believe we are finally there? Don't know about you guys, but I got my badge and my registration done and it is becoming real. Seemed like yesterday that we are all freaking like the 2017 applicants are doing right now.
