Never been to San Diego before, going to be there Fri-Mon. What are some cool "outdoorsy" things to do nearby to get away one day? Suggestions?
San Diego would be fun, but I can't make it.
I went in spring of 2008 to the SPA meeting. On my last day there I saw the San Diego Zoo. It was awesome, but you really need most of the day free if you want to get something out of it.

if you're presenting wear a suit - medical conferences are much more formal than their basic science counterparts. if you're just attending talks then it probably doesn't matter. have fun!
